To Janet and family. I worked with Barry when I started my career on 17C in 2001. I was lucky enough to have been invited to Calabogie a couple times by Barry and what an honor that was. I left Durham in 2006 so I lost touch with him. I am not telling you anything you didn't already know but wanted you to know, Barry was truly one of a kind and one of the best police officers I have known. He had a huge influence on me a police officer and I cherish my time learning from him. Thank you Barry.

I met Barry when he was a cadet with the Durham Regional Police Service and I was an Inspector. We had various conversations over our careers and although I was 30 years Barry’s senior we became casual friends and I remember helping Barry move to a country home in those early days of his career. In my minds eye I also remember seeing him hold a very young Emily in his arms. Lots of on the job as well as personal memories.
To Barry’s wife Janet his children and all who were near and dear to Barry I offer my condolences and I am honoured to have the opportunity to once again remember a friend and fellow officer on and off the job.

I was one of the many 17 Division members that got to know Barry when he joined “the job”. It was immediately apparent to all that he was a special young man with many good qualities. Barry had an obvious love of the outdoors and was proud of his roots. He was an amazing carpenter, and built me an 8’ x 6’ plate rack that hangs on a wall in my home.
