Thinking back to my childhood memories they surround around my time with Florence and John , my grandma and grandpa. grandpa was always a gentle man so kind and funny he always had the room laughing at his jokes and quirky attitude towards any situation. Mornings when i was little was like no other I remember waking at the crack of dawn sneaking to their bedroom to crawl into bed with Grandma knowing that if the house smelt like coffee
Grandpa was out making grandma her morning cup , as soon as we heard him coming my sister and I would quickly dash under the blankets where all you could hear are little giggles and in his big bear voice he would say “WHOS SLEEPING IN MY BED” tickles were to come after that a memory I now actually do with my children , growing up my life was never easy but long after leaving their care I could always count on grandma and grandpa to come to help me if I was hungry or grandpa crawling through a window to help me get my stuff from a locked apartment or coming to meet my first newborn daughter he would risk it all if it meant he was helping someone who was in need. I’ll never forget you grandpa thank you for everything

John was a lovely kind man. I met John when he was a Director for the Foster Parents Society of Ontario (FPSO) he was also an active member of the central zone FPSO group. When I was a new FPSO Director John welcomed me to the board and let me know if I had any questions, don't hesitate to ask. He was my early guide to the politics of the board, and how our work was relevant at the local Foster Parent level; as he like myself was the local area President.
I very much appreciated his kindness, his calm way of participating in debates that may have been heated. John had a way of kindly and sincerely stating what needed to be said to get everyone back in focus as to what really mattered. John was missed when he retired from our board; I want to extend condolences from myself, as well as from the FPSOP Board of Directors.
