Obituary of Peter Parrott
Stephen Peter Parrott September 7, 1954, to April 29, 2023
Peter lived a life devoted to his family, community and faith. He died peacefully at Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry.
Peter will be deeply missed by his wife Marsha (née Roe). He was the sweetness, music and laughter in her life for nearly 45 years.
Lovingly remembered by his daughters Stephanie and Lisa; son-in-law Richard West; grandchildren, Ronan and Imogen; sister Ann Eastwood; sisters-in-law, Janice Coles, Judi Roe and Edna Parrott; brothers-in-law, Brent Roe and David Eastwood; as well as his nieces and nephews and many other family and friends.
Peter had a talent for writing, editing and photography, which he used in his career working for community newspapers and later, in public service.
In high school Peter developed a love of music that continued throughout his life. His musical pursuits included playing piano and guitar and singing in the choir at Saint John’s Anglican Church in Bowmanville. Music was a form of creative expression that led him to meeting many of his friends and was one of the ways he served his community and his church. Peter also wrote his own songs inspired by his faith. He recorded two CDs of his music and some of his songs have also been played during services at Saint John’s.
Memorial Visitation will take place on Saturday May 13, 2023, at St. John’s Anglican Church 11 Temperance St. Bowmanville from 10:00 am – 11:00 am with a service to follow. Arrangements entrusted to NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter’s memory may be made to Saint John’s Anglican Church in Bowmanville or Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry.
