Our deepest sympathy to Steven, Phil, Gerrie and Families;
We met Lu when Carol and Brenda worked together at Burcan Industries in Whitby. We never knew what to expect when Lu would drop into our office. Sometimes he was in uniform, sometimes in civilian clothing, and a couple of times he was dressed as Santa Claus! But the one thing we could always expect was Lu's big beautiful smile. We enjoyed dinners and fun card games with Lu and Brenda, usually followed by a slice of delicious pie. We would tell Lu how well we slept at night, knowing he was out "roaming the streets" and keeping us safe. He has left us with nice memories .
Sincerely, Carol & Ken Wilson

My Sincere Condolences in the passing of Big Lu. I grew up, down or up the same 3rd Concession of Brock depending which way you were going. We used to play cards on the School Bus, sing in the Glee Club, compete in track and field while going to Brock High in Cannington. My brother John and Lu, myself an Lachlan, my brother Wayne and Gord were the same ages. It was many years later with Big Lu’s assistance we were introduced to a sister we didn’t know we had. Something in the process for years took Big Lu the time to drive from Oshawa to Cannington. Proves it’s a small world. Thanks Big Lu Rest in Peace.

Luzerne … larger than life, heart of gold and a ‘true-blue’ neighbour and friend. The Williamson and the Morrison families … growing up as neighbours will always be is one of the richest memories engrained deep within our hearts.
Childhood memories grew into our adult lives and as the ‘miles’ took us away from our neighbourhood farms, distance simply strengthened that old neighbourly bond. As the years went by, Luzerne NEVER missed a ‘Morrison’ family event … celebrations and in times of sorrow, Luzerne’s BIG warm smile and his genuine care just made a party better or brought feelings of comfort when we were sad.
We are thinking of you … our Williamson family … praying that God will allow precious memories to flow through your hearts today and forever. We pray, also, that … friends who genuinely care will surround you, allowing you to share both the tears and smiles that come with precious memories
Kindly and with a whole lot of love, Shirley & Murray MacAlpine

Mr W. was my childhood hero, a genuine soul who, with Brenda, made sure we were part of their family, from Lindsay trips, fireworks, sandboxing, swimming, going to see Santa, you name it...even gladly giving up Booter, the cat to us! To Steve, Phil, and your families, to Gerrie and your family, I am thinking of you and wish I could be there on Sunday to honour such a great man, and to hug you all. I'll cherish the memories, I'll hold them dear. Thanks Mr. W xo

Lu was one of my favourites. Always with a smile and a twinkle in his eye. Always kind and caring. He made me drive faster and hit the brakes harder over and over during driver training for the new ABS equipped vehicles. I learned more about driving that day than any other time. 'Look where you want to go' has saved me many times. My condolences to his family. He was a good man.

It was with great sorrow I heard of the passing of Lu. When I joined Oshawa Police Department in 1965, it was not long before I met with Lu, who was one of the friendliest people I had ever met. He was a dedicated Officer who cared for people. Always smartly turned out in uniform and a credit to the Force. He will be sorely missed. My condolences to his family and friends. Rest peacefully brother

FIrst Inpression.
After recently being released from a spit and shine regiment of the Canadian Armed Forces I find myself being paraded to a briefing for the duty squad of Oshawa Police Force .
As I stood there well groomed with boots like mirrors that had been dully spit and shoned and being introduced as the squads newbie I noticed one copper appeared to have a spirk on his face which I mistakenly took as mocking my boots.
Well before the shift was over after herding lost cattle through every lawn , garden and hay field I found myself once again in front of the squad.
This time my uniform in diistray and boots bare of any trace of polish I noticed the same officer still had that smirk.
But as I later learned ,this was not a smirk ,it was a smile. LU's signature smile.
Lu was saying welcome to the squad We have all been there ,done it now we have Newbie.
Well done Lu I will never forget that signature smile. Rest in peace Brother.

An honest citizen had turned in some cash they had found. Soon after, the cash went missing. It was often the subject of discussion.
One night Lu and I were patrolling the north end of Oshawa. It was a quiet night and I was singing. Lu got serious and said " I have to ask you something". I listened attentively while he said "What did you do with the money?" I felt like I was stabbed in the heart. Lu Williamson, the guy I admired most on the department thinks I took the money. I answered "What money?"
Then, in true form, Lu said, "The money your mother gave you for singing lessons."
He was the best
Another time we were having range training. Lu emptied his gun. The shells had been in the gun so long, they had turned green.
I had the utmost respect for Lu. He was not only a great mentor, he was fun.
Rest in peace my dear. Save me a seat.

"Control to 1711" That was our call sign, as two big officers sitting shoulder to shoulder in a cruiser built for one started their shift.
Lu was one of my first partners as we patrolled the streets of south Oshawa in 1980. Lu was a partner that you loved to work with. He was funny, approachable, kind, and could tell a story like no other, leaving everyone laughing. Some of my best memories of working with Lu were during the Ukrainian holidays. Somehow, Lu and I always ended up riding together during Easter, Christmas and New Years.
C'mon Andy he'd say, why he called me Andy I don't know, where's our first stop? He knew it would be my uncle's place on Stone Street, followed by several others. I learned a lot from Lu especially how to make friends and treat people.
You will be missed by everyone who knew you my friend. Rest in Peace until we can partner shoulder to shoulder again.
Our condolences to the Williamson Family.

So very sorry to hear of Lu's passing. He was the kindest man with a beautiful smile and heart warming laugh. I remember after he retired, he worked for a while doing milk deliveries and the school across from our house was on his route. One morning he pulled into our driveway to say hi and gave me one of his famous hugs. We chatted for a bit, and as he turned to leave he gave me a big wink and said he better get going before the nieghbours start talking about my affair with the milk man! Rest in Peace Lu.

I was not lucky enough to work much with Lu but I have this to share.
Back when I worked one of my first pay duties we were assigned a 70’s type, Elvis dance at the Oshawa Civic.
I showed up in my hat and tie to see Lu already there on the packed dance floor dancing with basically everybody.
I went to see him and he told me to “ditch” that stuff
It was a memorable evening to say the least . I forgot we were actually working at times.
Rest In Peace Lu
My condolences to his family.

When Lu and his family lived on Easthaven Street, he was an outstanding friend and neighbour, He doted on his two boys and always watched out for the other kids in the 'hood. Who could forget his shrill whistle and a shout to slow down, at any car that exceeded the speed limit on our street. He was always kind and attentive to my kids, and not without a mischievous sense of humour. "Lu, "Mr. W.," you were an exceptional guy. It was a privilege to know you. Rest in peace.

Lu, my friend, I have many wonderful memories of our friendship over the years.
I met Lu almost 60 years ago as a young 19 year old Police Officer. We attended Police College together and he could not even join us for a pint because of being such a young age.
It was Lu who introduced me to Association Politics by nominating me as President of the Oshawa Police Association in 1968. This was this beginning of many interesting, educational and fun times. We attended many Police Association of Ontario and Canadian Police Association Conventions and events together over the years.
Lu was the ever hard-working member of our Association Board. He was instrumental in obtaining two of our Association facilities, 65 Kenneth St. in Oshawa and our present facility in Whitby.
Lu will sadly be missed by my wife, Joan, and me.
May you rest in peace, my Friend.
With deepest sympathy,
Joan and Fred Johns

Lou was the kindness man with a love for life and friends. I remember the first function I attended when I was in my twenties and Lou danced with me (similar to a waltz) I had no idea what I was doing, but he made me feel like I was a ballroom dancer. I even think Steve thought I knew what I was doing. That was Lou ... he knew how to sweep you off your feet and have you feel completely supported.
Steve and I are so deeply saddened by the loss of you and our hearts go out to all of his beloved family.

Lu was the face of a true "gentleman". Although I didn't know Lou "back in the day", I came to know and respect him as I became more involved in the DRPA. Lu, I believe, had a similar outlook on things as I did and seemed to portray the "voice of reason". In my role on the DRPA executive, I had all the time in the world for Lu whenever he dropped around and welcomed his suggestions, support and overall insight. I will miss our chats and talk of motorcycling. RIP my friend.

I admired and respected Lu from the day I met him back in 1984 when I was a young police officer.
As a senior officer he always made me, a young rookie feel welcomed and included.
I knew when I was assigned to work a shift with Lu, it was going to be enjoyable and entertaining for sure.
Including watching (or being part of or on the receiving end of) little pranks he would enjoy playing on his co workers.
Lu and Gerrie were so wonderful together and my wife Lena and I enjoyed any time with them.
Lu will be greatly missed by us and so many others.
