My Uncle Ken
He was not what I would call a warm and fuzzy kind of guy lol. But he knew that when he saw me coming he was in for a hug. I am not sure if he considered it needed but he always tolerated and reciprocate with a smile. When I think of you I will always think of your humor. You always had a joke to tell and with such expression. He would share stories from his time in the navy. I love to travel so he would share his adventures of places he had been to.
Growing up Uncle Ken couldn't remember all of our names so for me and a couple of my sister he came up with his own names. I was Whatcha ma call it, Mary Ann was Thing a ma jig and Geraldine was What's her face. I actually think he changed who was who every time but we knew he was talking to us.
When our kids where young and we would head to lake St. Peter for a family vacation he was the one tormenting his great niece's and newphews. He was given the name Uncle Nicky by all the kids. I think he was the only one those weeks that liked my dog patches. He probably had a biscuit in his pocket so Patches liked him too.
My fondest memory will be the day he showed up at my door with his homemade rice pudding. I guess we had had a conversation about rice pudding at some point and he remembered. He was in Oshawa to return some pants to Sears and he decided to visit. We had a nice talk and then before he left he got into the garden telling me which was weeds and what wasn't. It was such a nice surprise and now a memory I will cherish.
My Dad has been gone 38 yrs this year but I have always been forunate to have such wonderful cousins that let me share their Dad's every so often. Thanks guys
I am happy that you went on your terms Uncle Ken because at 95 you earned it. RIP and give everyone a hug for me up there, because you know Uncle Ken I am a hugger. You have joined so many that have been missing you, now it is our turn.
Love Glenda

Herb and I are so sorry to hear of his passing! We were lucky enough to get to know him a bit and in that short time and can understand why he was so loved and respected. He was charming, funny and kind, much like his children. To all left behind,
we hope his memories bring you comfort. xo
