Berta and I were early risers.
My favourite time of day with Mom, was pre-dawn.
We would sit and talk for hours before all the sleepy heads would get up.
When I'm out walking the dog in the dark, I tear up a little when sunshine reaches the horizon.

I am so sorry for your loss. I will miss my visits with Berta very much. We enjoyed chatting about our families, music, especially her singing with the Sweet Adelines and our life happenings. She was always so kind and caring and I loved the digital musical cards she sent to me for every occasion. She was so proud of her children and her grandchildren. Dear Richard, Tammy, Michelle, Mike, Wyatt, Morgan, Charlotte,
Sending our heartfelt sympathies on the loss of your dear Mother/Grandmother, and wishing you comfort during this sad time. Berta was a very special friend to us, from the moment we became neighbours on Briar Gate Way. She was always calm, encouraging and always positive, even during the most difficult of times. We had the best talks about everything and anything, right up until she passed, and she was always so proud of her family. We hope it will help you to know that others are missing her right along with you, and sending our love and prayers to all of you. Take care of each other.

Mrs. Avery will be greatly missed by myself and both of my children Bryan and Leslie Gordon. Berta was a great kindergarten teacher who developed the minds of many children who passed threw her classroom at both schools she taught at . Her love of music was shown in her classrooms and in the plays put on at Adelaide McLaughlin school . Mrs. Avery made all who came to her classroom feel welcome and loved . My condolences to Berta's extended family .

On behalf of our retired group of teachers from Adelaide McLaughlin Public School, A.R.S.E. by name , I am sending our most sincere sympathy to Berta’s family at this most difficult time. We were fortunate to have been together for a backyard reunion just a very short time ago to get caught up on our time apart due to COVID. There was much conversation there and we are so grateful for that as we have many memories of teaching together. Berta was so pleased with her new condo. Life, as we know, is so very fragile. We will miss Berta in our circle of friends and colleagues.
