It is very sad to hear of Mikes passing. Mike was a big part of the success of the Oshawa Vikings when he worked with the executives in the 80's and early 90's, and a huge supporter of Junior Rugby. I enjoyed my time working with him. Our condolences to Sue, David and Gareth. Nancy and Dave.

Dear Susan, Shirley, and families,
So sorry to hear of your loss.
Mike was a good mate, at school and beyond. He was always ready to push the boundaries and managed to enthuse others at the same time.
Lots of fond memories, usually related to rugby or music, and always involving a beer or two.
Best wishes to all,
Roger B.

I was deeply saddened to learn, just yesterday, of Mike's passing. I worked closely with him on the junior league schedules when I was TRU secretary in the late 1980s, and again on incoming school tours in the 1990s when I was on the Rugby Ontario staff and Mike was the representative here for Rugby Travel. He was quite simply one of the nicest people I've ever known, a tremendous worker for rugby and always delightful company. He will be greatly missed by many people.
My deepest sympathy to Sue and the family, and to all at the Oshawa Vikings club.

My thoughts are with the Stone family during this difficult time. I had the pleasure of working with Mike as part of the Viking Rugby Club. Mike will be missed in many ways and not seeing him on the sidelines with many of the "Old Boys" will leave an empty spot, but he will always be fondly remembered.

My condolences and thoughts to the Stones: Garreth, Jennifer et. all.
Mike's contribution to Vikings Rugby Club will continue for many years. A lot of current and past Vikings owed their involvement in the sport of Rugby to Mike, including my son. Mike worked hard for many years to establish the Junior Rugby Program that we can all now be proud of. Through the program, we have produced countless of national, state and regional players.
I learnt a lot from him in in the years I have been with the club. His calm, soft but stern British accent will always be something that I remember.
Cheers and thanks Mike for a great legacy that you had left for all of us.

Mike may you rest in peace. It was a surprise to hear of your passing today from a friend. You were very instrumental in starting our rugby program at Bowmanville High School. For that I am very grateful as I become involved in the sport for many years in many capacities following your help and guidance. You were always available to help with the running practices and games; refereeing on short notice many times. You also supported our team and other local schools in raising funds by running the bingos for the Vikings through the schools.
I had the pleasure of teaching and coaching both Dave and Gareth; even played a few games with Dave. I will be thinking of Susan, Dave, Gareth and the family as I have a beer in your memory. You will be sadly missed by the community Mike. Cheers

My condolences go out to the Stone family. Your father was one of nicest men I have ever met. He was always pleasant to talk to and had time to listen. He gave a lot of his time and worked tirelessly to advance all Rugby in the Durham Region both at all the High Schools and at the Oshawa Viking Club. He is man I enjoyed being around and working with in the late 80's, 90's and 2000's. He was always there for the betterment of all involved.
I will have a beer in his memory and honestly he will be a man I will never forget.
I know the pain is heavy in your hearts at this time and he will be missed, I believe he is an angel looking after all members of your family as he did while he was alive and well.
Take care and on behalf of all those young athletes your father helped I thank you for your sharing your father with all of us.
Peter Willems, Rugby Player, former rugby coach at Courtice, Bowmanville and Clarke High School.

Mike was an amazing guy who has helped arrange my school tours from England for a hell of a long time.
Without him I wouldn't have met so many amazing people in Canada who I have stayed friends with for ever.
Mike will be deeply missed I'm sure and the rugby world will have a new star in the sky looking down on Viking rugby.
God bless
Matt Hawkes ( Glyn School - Epsom )

As a member of The Vikings and a past teacher, coach and friend of Ron Pither, I owe an enduring debt to Mike for his work with Junior rugby a sport that has brought me much joy and many friends. Mike's support of Port Perry High Rugby through Ron and the Vikings bingo I have traveled on tour, enjoyed the friendship of many and continue to benefit to this day. I am sorry to see the early passing of anyone but in the case of Mike I must also celebrate a life well lived. Thanks Mike.
