Obituary of James Murdock DaCosta
Queen's Counsel
Passed away at his home in Orono, Ontario, on Monday August 15, 2016, at age 87.
Born December 19, 1928 in Toronto, son of Elena Murdock DaCosta and Alexander DaCosta, grandson of Senator James Murdock and Annette Elmira Follis Murdock. Proud graduate of St. Andrews College, Trinity College and Osgoode Hall. Jim practiced law and was involved in business for over thirty years with the Ontario Securities Commission and Falconbridge. He then took up farming on the property he loved in Orono, where he enjoyed being an active member of the community. Jim was a wonderful family man and friend, always willing to lend a helping hand. His blue eyes and smile could light up a room, and his stories were captivating. He loved to travel and meet new people, and left an impression wherever he went. He is survived and will be so missed by his wife Susan; his children Bruce and wife Darlene DaCosta of Hunstville; Carolyn and husband Barry Trebell of Richmond Hill; Alexandra and husband Tyson White of Boston; stepchildren Stephen Sawyer of Orono; and Heather Sawyer and husband Mark Daniel of Kalamazoo; as well as his seven grandchildren Ashley, Kandis, Andrew, Stephanie, Hudson, Justin, and Morgan.
