I idolized Rick when I when I was a kid. He was 12 years older than me but we were both hockey players. That was our bond. His mom and my mom were sisters. He was a very good hockey player. Rest In Peace Rick. My condolences to Kris.

I was a couple of years behind Rick in high school, and was pulled along in a variety of sports by Rick and his peer group, many of whom probably stack up as the best group of athletes Henry Street High School ever had. I remember Rick as a humble, somewhat shy, but hugely athletically gifted guy. He was also very open and friendly. The reference to him refining his skills on Fred Ing's lawn brings back so many memories, as he and his colleagues set unbelievable standards for those of us following in his wake. My favourite memory took place during a football game at Henry, where Rick had just used his incredible hand-eye coordination and athleticism to strip an opponent of the ball. He was always giving 100% on the field. Fred Ing [father of Bob and Doug] was standing next to me when he did this right in front of us. Fred turned to me and his son, Doug and said: "Reflexes like a Cat" -- admiration and wonder all over his face. Tim Reynolds

Dear Kris, Anja and Brad, 70+ years of friendship and we were so happy to have been able to be with Rick during this last part of his journey. He was there as best man at our wedding and was also there to give a speech at our 25th wedding anniversary, One of Brian's fondest memories was going with Rick to the foundry to have "The Pod" cast in bronze. I hope everyone googles Rick Switzer the Pod to see this brilliant piece. We have such good memories with several of his pieces in our home and I will attach a picture of one of our favorites which we always wondered who the model was! Thinking of you all during this difficult time. Love Brian and Gay xoxo

Kris and Anja, please know that I am deeply saddened by Rick's passing. The relationship that came as a result of our "kids"" getting married has lasted many years, and I am so grateful for our friendship. I will never forget the good times we shared, especially the laughter, families coming together. Cherish the memories, things will get better. Love you both to the moon and back. We alll grieve yet, we all grieve differently, may God grant you strength during this jouney.
