Obituary of David Charles Yarlett

David Charles Yarlett

February 16, 1942 – October 19, 2024

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of David Charles Yarlett at the age of 82.

Born and raised in Toronto, long time Leaside resident, enjoyed living the last 5 years in Bowmanville.

David loved music, travelling to warm climates and his cars, detailing them for car shows and making them one of a kind! He was a terrific cook, had a love for good food and had a knack for coordinating his outfits.

David would have a smile, a kiss, a handshake, a hug, and a story for everyone he knew.

David started girls’ hockey in Leaside 50 years ago (1974) and enjoyed seeing it’s growth over the years. He along with his brother Stephen and both the first-year teams the Blazerettes and Lancerettes were inducted into the Leaside Hall of Fame in 2018.

Survived by his best friend Susan Mallabon and her family, his son Jeffrey, sisters Sandra Hubley (Norman), Karen Shear (the late Sidney), Debbie Monck (Richard) and brothers Michael (the late Cathie) and Stephen.

Uncle to 15 nieces and nephews and 15 great nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Bert and Aileen.

A special thank you to his coffee group friends for their support and friendships.

David’s wishes were not to have a funeral, for his family and friends to not be sad, but to remember him for his outgoing big personality.

A special thank you to David’s dear friend Marge for all the laughs, the road trips, the blanket and all the cheeseburgers (inside joke!)

A special thank you to all the Nurses and Doctors at Bowmanville Hospital who took wonderful, compassionate care of David. If you would like to make a donation in honour of David, please support the Bowmanville Hospital Foundation at www.bowmanvillehospitalfoundation.com
