As one of Buck Vetzal's son in laws I had the opportunity to visit with Joan at Deb's table as well as the cottage on Stoney Lake numerous times. She was a treat to spend time with and I was most pleased to see Buck and her together enjoying life. Deb and I wish to send our best regards to Joan's family and friends.

Will miss you Joan. My friend since high school. We somehow managed to stay in touch all these years. You have always been a caring and kind friend. I wish we could have gotten together more often but living in ottawa made it difficult although we did have lengthy telephone comversations. Miss you love you and will hold you in my heart

Joan was a kind, sweet, gentle woman who cared and loved her family, her friends, her faith, and her Maple Leafs and Blue Jays!
Joan was a loving companion for my Dad, Horace Vetzal for many years. My entire family was blessed to have Joan in our lives and our gatherings. Rest in Peace Joan. Love and Peace to her family.

George and I are so sorry to hear about Joan. She was such a lovely addition to our family get togethers and we have missed her the past couple years. Thinking of you all and praying peace and comfort be with you today and always. The one picture is at the farm and the other is our annual Halloween Party at our house.

Dear Lisa, Susan and families. It is with sadness that we heard of the passing of Joan. Our time at Carman United Church (Toronto) in the Hi-C teen group was fun, informative, full of many good times and friends. Saturday nights were usually spent at the church dance and Sunday night after church we watched TV at the Dobneys - 9:00 p.m. a drama show with Howard Duff and Ida Lupino then Alfred Hitchcock until 10:00. Then we got the call "Time to go home" from Mrs. Dobney. Good times wonderful memories lifelong friendships.

The last time I saw Joan was Wednesday, the 16th, in Bowmanville hospital. She was sitting in a wheelchair . She had told the nurse to leave her there rather than transferring her to a chair. Joan never wanted to create a fuss. We talked about many things. How she missed the UCW meetings, how she wanted to go to the Christmas Bazaar to help out, how much she liked Ebenezer Church and their Zoom church services. She enjoyed that community and thought it rather special.
She wanted to know all about Irwin’s funeral and was sorry she had to miss it. Her pride in her daughters and a particular grandson was obvious.
She was worried about the cost of a care home and she said that she would prefer to die suddenly rather than have her life linger.
Joan was a kind, thoughtful, gracious, and courageous woman of faith. She was our friend and a supportive member of Ebenezer/Trinity UCW. Without any fuss, Joan will be remembered with joy, and thanksgiving. Our time spent with her will be treasured.
