Obituary of Steven Carlyle Jessop
Steven Carlyle Jessop left this world on October 1st, 2024, peacefully in his home in Bowmanville. Born to the proud parents Alfred Carlyle Jessop and Kathleen “Kae” Jessop (Allen). Loving brother of Allen Jessop and 3 sisters Kathleen DeRose (Kelly), Elaine Jessop (Steve) and Lori Barett (Bob). Previously married to Lyenne Stanley, Father of John Jessop (Linda Finlay), Jennifer Jessop (Michael Silvio) and Michelle Jessop-Price (Andrew Price). Proud grandfather of Breanna Jessop (Tyler Brace), Colin Price and Sam Price. Great grandfather of 3; Julian Knight, Summer Brace and Jonah Brace.
Steve worked for Magellan Aerospace (previously called Orenda) in Milton for over 35 years in the planning Department working on military planes. He proudly served as a member and president of the Local Machinists Union. He often would share stories about his time as union president and about travelling to many conferences in Arizona and San Fransisco.
Steve was a huge sports fan and was an avid golfer and bowler. He travelled all over USA to compete in bowling tournaments and collected many trophies along the way. He was a devoted fan of The Detroit Red Wings, The Philadelphia Eagles and The Toronto Blue Jays. He was a proud supporter of The Jays Care Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation and The Mouth and Foot Painting Artists. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice in honour of Steve and to make a difference to someone in need.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people in our community who have reached out to Steve and his family with support, assistance, and kindness. Thank you to his health care team; Doctor Webber and Palliative Care Doctor Bhaurcha, his nurse Megan and personal support workers Julie, Jessica, and Brian for their care and for treating Steve as more than a patient or client. We would like to thank his neighbour Jacqueline West who has helped him for over 15 years, our superintendent Darcy and wife Mary Anne, as well as our community of neighbours for their kindness, help and support over the years. We are grateful for having such wonderful people in Steve’s life who have had such a positive impact on Steve and his family.
A celebration of life for Steve Jessop will take place on Sunday October 20th 2024. Steve’s family and friends will be gathering at 12:00 pm at Burke Steiner’s Bar and Grill at 89 King Street East in Bowmanville, Ontario L1C 1N4.
