July 28, 1927 – September 4, 2024

Joyce passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 in her 98th year.

Born in Saint-Lambert Quebec and raised in the Beach area of Toronto, Joyce attended St. Aidan’s Church, Williamson Road Public School, Moulton College for Girls and Malvern Collegiate. She worked at Shell Oil and Marathon Corporation before moving to Sherritt Gordon Mines in 1962 where she worked as an Executive Secretary until her retirement in 1987.

Joyce enjoyed her work and loved her hobbies: photography, piano, quilting, needlework, painting. She travelled widely, enjoyed ballet and opera and spending time with her many good friends. She lived a great life and was a happy lady who loved to laugh. “Bradley Wood” at Halls Lake in Haliburton was her special summer place. Joyce moved from Toronto to Peterborough in 1994 and to Chartwell Bowmanville Creek in 2017.

Predeceased by her parents, William and Agnes, her brother John and sister-in-law’s Margaret and Maureen and niece Sharon (Ed Trippel). She is survived by her loving brother David, nieces and nephews, Valerie, Eric (Karri), Pam (Neil) Peter (Jennifer) as well as great nieces and nephews, Michael, (Eleana) and their children Finnegan and Rosie, Rachel (Jordan), Anna (Steve), Evan (Marisa), Drew (Jessica), Aidan (Katharine), Jonah (Clara). She was close with her cousin Christine and her family, the Coneybeare, Oliver and Killens families, as well as many cousins in the UK.

The family will receive friends at the Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 24 for a visitation from 12-1pm followed by a service at 1pm. Interment at St John’s Norway Cemetery in Toronto at a later date.
