Obituary of Roy David Ashton Graham

Roy Graham

Passed away at Centennial Place, Millbrook on Saturday March 16, 2024

Beloved husband of the late Lorna Viola Graham. Dear father of Rena and Tom Potts; Ian and Cheryl Graham; Kyle and Barb Graham; Gail and Ray Cameron; Sybil and Fred Smith and the late David.  Loving grandfather to 13 and great grandfather to 25.  Predeceased by brother, James Graham and sister Rena.  He will be lovingly remembered by the late Helen Short and Eileen Menzies.

Roy was born in Haydon, Ontario to Ethel and Leslie Graham on January 5, 1925. He served in the Canadian Airforce during World War II and was stationed in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Roy stayed in Haydon to raise his family with wife Lorna. He and Lorna spent time at “the farm” in Marmora where he kept many of his treasured antiques and tended a garden. They later moved to the farm permanently after selling the family home in Haydon.

He was the owner and chief mechanic of Graham’s Garage in Haydon. Roy was a member of the United Church and sang in the choir. He performed the cantata with the choir at Marmora United Church at Christmas for many years. Roy was one of the founding members of the Studebaker Driver’s Club and after many years of service, earned the title of Eastern Ontario’s “Studebaker Man”. Roy was a regular vendor at both Stirling and Barrie Flea Markets where you could always find him with his motor home, a variety of odds and ends, and Studebaker parts, of course.

Roy was an avid storyteller, a writer, and a man who appreciated a good piece of pie. He had a kind heart and often, a twinkle in his eye. He will be fondly remembered by those who crossed his path. May he rest in peace as he is, at last, reunited with his beloved Lorna.
