My sweet Uncle Dougie. Growing up, you gave me the best gift any little girl could ask for - your time, love and patience. My fondest and most vivid childhood memories are those spent with you and Aunt Mimi. They are held in a special place deep within in my heart and I think about them often. I’m so incredibly grateful for the time we were able to spend together this summer. Watching you with little Ivy Mae was one of the sweetest joys of new motherhood. She sensed your genuine warmth and you two became instant buddies. I’m still not sure whose eyes lit up more. I love you and miss you and know you are at peace watching over your Mimi.

I don't remember Doug not being in my life.
He was one of the finest men I've ever known.
An amazing husband who loved his Mimi and family more than life itself.
A friend to everyone always.
The first person to help anyone in need at any time.
A warm smile and twinkling eyes.
Not just an uncle to my kids but a grandfather as they never knew theirs.
Not just a brother-in-law, but a true brother in my heart.
