I am writing this for Eileen she asked me to say the following;
I am sad to know Marlene passed away She had sent me to the Hospital because she came to visit and saw I was in pain. The Dr's found out what was wrong because of Marlene sending me. She is the daughter of my best friend Helen and I watched Marlene grow up along with my kids. She was kind, thoughtful and made time to come visit and call me. She came to visit me a short while back and it was shocking to know she passed away so quickly.
I know her mom, dad, sister, brothers will be there to greet her. You will be missed Marlene

Such sad news.
Marlene was so kind to me when I visited Canada from Scotland way back in 1988. I had such a great time in her company.
Happy memories.
Sending sincere condolences to the family.

I knew Marlene because my mom Eileen and Marlene Mom Helen were best friends, Peggy my older sister and Marlene were friends. Years later I got to know Marlene more and always respected her that she lived her own life and was proud of it. Marlene loved, books, music, friendship, her family , animals, and knowledge. She was so knowledgeable regarding union rules. I, when nursing ,became President of Cupe and needed advice on a couple things Marlene gave me the information I needed to do what I needed to do. She was a warm ,caring, individual that was very loyal. I saw her in September at my mom Eileen's new apartment and she was waiting to do the biopsies and she felt they'd give her a plan. Sadly the Cancer was too advanced to be stopped. Her courage, was amazing and she was ready to deal with what happens. Her parents, sister, brothers greeted her when she arrived at home. Thank you Marlene for your sincere caring, knowledge, the way you walked to your own drummer because you chose to. I am blessed to have walked on the same path as you and know I've learnt from listening to you and watching you. The love you had for your daughter's was unconditional and that is true to who you are.
Rest in Peace and thank you for the prints and spirit you have left behind you are a person that will live on through everyone you've touched.

Marlene's memory will endure in my soul as one of the most warm-hearted individuals that Local 222 has ever seen. While working at the Union Hall, we talked for more than 20 years about the joy (and expense!) of living with our cats and dogs. Where she worked is still called "Marlene's Office". Blessings to all of Marlene's extended family during their time of sadness.
