Obituary of June Sylvia James

June Sylvia James

June passed away peacefully at Glen Hill Terrace in Whitby on Thursday October 19, 2023 in her 91st year.

Beloved wife of Bill, they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on October 9th.  Born and raised in Carleton Place, Ontario, she and Bill lived in Courtice for more than 65 years.  Much loved mother of Jennifer James (Lynn Mutton), Donald (Nancy Walker), Glenn (Shelley), and son-in-law Wayde Preston (Lisa Byers).  Proud grandmother to Victoria (Ali), Ben, Patrick (Amy), Georgina (Randy) and Ellen (Dylan).  Sister to Judy (Don) Fisher and Gloria (Bob) Parno, and sister-in-law to Norma Stanzel, Jane Ann and John Chamney and aunt to many nieces and nephews.  Special friend to Melanie Abbott.  June was predeceased by her daughter Sheila James; parents, Benjamin and Edith Stanzel; siblings Beth (Keith) Morris, Joyce (Mac) Saunders, and Mervyn; and brother-in-law Benjamin James.

June was happiest caring for her family, baking pies and Christmas cookies, quilting and embroidery, reading, spending time with her grandchildren, car trips with Bill around northern Ontario in the fall and winters in Florida, curling, golfing with friends, board games with the kids, long walks outside and watching birds.  She will be missed always.

Friends and family are invited to a celebration of June's life on November 2, 2023 at St. James Anglican Church Hall, 225 Edmund Street, Carleton Place, Ontario from 10:00 am - 1:30 pm.  Remembrances will be shared at 11:30 and lunch at 12:00 noon.  Interment will follow at St. George's Anglican Cemetery, Bowland Road, Mississippi Mills, Ontario.
