My deepest condolences to all of Howard's family. I have fond memories of Howard and growing up on the farm down the road (Gladibrae farms) and continued to get occasional updates on things going on with Howard and the family as an adult. I know he will be greatly missed.

Our condolences to the entire Sikma family. Howie was my defensive partner for a couple of years playing for the OAC Aggies college hockey team. A lot of great times on and off the ice. A great guy gone far too soon.

My heart felt condolences to Howie’s family. We met at Clarke High School in grade 13/OAC year. In a short time Howie became a good friend in the group. So many good memories of that last year of high school. Then years later our kids went to high school together.

The news of Howie’s passing absolutely stunned us and left us in a state of disbelief. Only the day before, we were communicating with you guys and looking forward to getting to see you sometime soon. Even though our friendship was still quite new, we clicked right away. Howie's zest for life, his ability to talk, listen, and engage when we met him, made him feel like he was an old friend. Howie told us about his love for his kids, farming, and we could see the love that he had for Kennedy. Our sincere condolences to you, Kennedy. Our deepest sympathy for you and all of Howie’s family and friends.
We sure would have liked a little more time. We have wonderful memories.

Had the pleasure of meeting Howie through my good friend Andy and we hit it off instantly. We got to take in some get togethers including hockey and football games and always had great fun times. We will now cherish those times when getting together and will share stories of the good times we were able to share with Howie. I will miss his texts and the times we had anticipated getting together again. Guys like your Husband, Dad, Grandfather and Friend are hard to find and I am grateful and honoured I got to know him. My thoughts are with you all with the sudden loss of Howie.

Dear Kennedy, I’m so sorry to hear about Howie. I don’t know what to say; you guys have been through so much yet managed to be happy and committed to each other. Howie was great guy, always willing to help or offer advice to anyone who asked. One thing I do know is that he loved you very much and was completed with you being with him. He couldn’t have been happier. Again, I’m so sorry, I only wish you had more time together to enjoy each other. Please give our regards to his family, we’re thinking of all of you.

Howie and I go way back and have a long history together. That’s why it was so shocking and sad to hear about his sudden passing. We grew up playing hockey together in Newcastle.and often drove him to games when the family was too busy with the farm. Howie and I then attended Clarke High School and later the University of Guelph together, and were even housemates in 3rd year, renting a house with a bunch of other fellow OAC ‘93 Aggies. He had a great laugh and definitely knew how to enjoy life. Even though we kinda lost touch after university, we bumped into each other a couple of times over the decades in TSC/Peavy Mart or local arenas, and could pick right up where we left off. That’s the type of guy Howie was. My deepest condolences go out to his family. The world is a lesser place without him in it.

So sorry for your loss.
Howard has been a terrific neighbour. For 21 years we've lived on the corner of the farm. Whenever we needed a hand Howard was glad to help. I told Howard jokingly that I live in the best place. I have all the advantages of living on a farm with none of the disadvantages. Next day there was a fresh load of manure spread on the field right behind my fence LOL!
Good thing I don't mind the smell.
He will be missed. God bless.

I was saddened and shocked to hear about the passing of Howard.
Howard was one of the first people I met in university. At first glance, Howard reminded me of Bo Duke driving around in his white Trans Am. Being a student that lived far away, Howard was generous to have me home to his farm several times and meet his parents and a couple siblings. During one visit, I had the opportunity to work on his brother George’s farm to help with chores when his family went away for the weekend.
I have many other fond memories of Howard, especially his love for hockey. He wanted to play any chance he had. He was very instrumental in keeping the OAC 93 team active. One of his other loves was his cows. On separate occasions travelling between Toronto and Ottawa, I have stopped by his farm for a visit. You could find him around the farm, and he would have a beer ready for visitors from his barn fridge. He was someone that you could very easily talk with.
I wish all Howard’s family and friends all the peace and comfort possible. You will be missed.
RIP peace Howie!!
Your friend,
Jeff Robinson
