I first met Lydia at the Gospel Hall as a child with her brother John and sister Tina. I lived in Courtice and knew her from elementary school to Courtice High school. Always smiling and happy. I am so sorry for you loss Rob and Olivia and Mrs Vooys. Absent from the body present with the Lord. Praying for those left behind, that is the hardest. May you have peace that passes all understanding. So sorry for such a loss to our community.

Mrs Vooys, Rob and Olivia. I am so sad that Lydia has left us at such a young age. Lydia was my childhood best friend. We spent countless summer hrs in her pool or mine. Like so many else here, when I think of her, I see her big smile. I am so sorry that I was not able to come to her funeral but I am praying for you, her family, as you grieve.

I am sending love to all of the people who are going to miss all of the "nexts" with Lydia. For my time on this earth with Lydia, she was a huge part of a moment in time where she and her teammate taught me to run..welcomed me in to teach that program with them...joined me on my first half marathon which was one of the best memories I've had the privilege to create. We had so many laughs that weekend...I have some of the best friends and most important people in my life because I was a human who got to meet and know Lydia. If life is a culmination of memories please know that Lydia has gifted me with some of my best ones...I am so sorry she won't get to create more with her family and friends...I do have a belief personally that that smile and light and energy is not far away and will show up in so many ways. Watch for her. Sleep sweet Lydia. Thank you for being in my life. I wish your journey was longer. Much love.

This is how I’ll always remember Lydia! That great big smile was contagious! I still laugh out loud on occasion over the “pedicure” story at the Ottawa Mall! My condolences to the family! Hold on to your good memories! ❤️

It saddens me to think that she is no longer with us. When we were in high school we had a great time as a group of friends. We would stay at Lydia’s and walk to get the bus to celebrate someone’s birthday at Mother Pizza. We all went to concerts together and Lydia would driver her parents station wagon. If I stayed overnight the next morning we would dead head the carnations that her parents grew. There are so many great memories, I will always have fond memories of her compassion her generosity. My condolences to her family and friends. Sincerely Janice Craig Ibbotson

A RADIANT SMILE
Lydia always had such a beautiful smile. I attended her excellent fitness classes back when Olivia was a preschooler toddling around the gym as her mother led us through aerobics moves. Forty years later I signed up for her chair yoga classes at the BOAA and stayed with them for many years. I always left these classes feeling totally stretched out and at peace. Lydia had quite a following and we had to line up early on registration day in case we didn’t find a spot in her classes. We loved her cat stories before each class and the way she joined in with our silliness and chatter. Yet she worked us hard and had us walking funny the next day.
Sincerest condolences to her husband Rob, her daughter Olivia, her mother and the rest of her family.
