It’s taken me awhile to say anything about the loss of my Uncle Keith. Keith and Marguerite were each others soul mate. We were such a part of each others lives. I will miss our yearly birthday phone calls and our regular calls. I will miss you dearly as will Aunt Marguerite and all those whose heart and life you have touched. Love you forever Marg ❤️❤️

It is with great sadness that our family says farewell to Mr. Keith Pigeon. Patrick, I, and our two children consider ourselves so fortunate to have gotten to know and spend many fascinating hours on the porch at Diamond Lake with this truly remarkable man.
Upon learning of his passing, in sadness, our son Percy (age 10) said, “Mr. Pigeon was just the best. He would always have an awesome story that you could never even believe.” Mr. Pigeon’s stories would keep all of us on the edge of our seats, and never end the way you expected them to. Whether it was being pulled out of school as a kid to fight forest fires (and emerging from the forest in nothing but a belt- the kids’ favourite tale!) to accounts of harrowing storms, to memories of making music and then coming out with archived recordings to play for a revival, he never ever failed to delight. Just his general knowledge of the area and experience with the woods and the wildlife on the Lake was so impressive. We benefited from his knowledge of bird calls (helping us discern what kind of owl was spooking us at night), understanding about beavers and their activities, and anything you might want to know about fishing.
He was an extremely wise and skilled man, having worked in the trades and teaching us a thing or two about our new cabin (since he’d done roofing work on it decades before). Going into town there was barely a person you could meet that didn’t know Keith and Marguerite, the sentinels and stewards of Diamond Lake. Just recently, going for a tour of Camp Ponacka we were able to appreciate more of his handiwork and craftsmanship in the dining hall there.
Even in the last year of his life, when his illness had limited his mobility, Lee had driven the fishing boat up to the dock and upon extinguishing the motor, found that it couldn’t be started again. Watching her pulling the cord with futility and frustration, Keith came right down to the dock and used his cane to point to the various parts of the motor and gas/oil supply lines that needed checking. He handily directed from the dock and within a short amount of time had figured out the problem and had the motor working again. Keith's kind nature was such that he would never stand by and see a person in distress without providing help.
He was always welcoming- Keith and Marguerite never failed to make us feel right at home and almost like part of their family. They were generous to a fault, extending kindness to us when we were relative strangers back in 2014, a relationship which grew into a neighbourly friendship that our family has always treasured.
Our deepest condolences are extended to Marguerite and the Pigeon family at this difficult time. The loss of Keith from our community is immeasurable. May he rest in peace. His spirit most definitely will live on at Diamond Lake and in the hearts and minds of those who knew him.

Keith will always be one of the best story tellers I have ever had in my 30 years as a PSW. I truly enjoyed my weekly visits to Diamond Lake over the last few years. I missed you like crazy when you left Bancroft and my Tues and Friday mornings have never been the same! I loved listening to your stories about the farm and of course your love of horses. You always made this farm girl laugh.
Rest in peace my friend.

Loved talking to this guy when he came in for his morning shop. He told me many good stories about his trips, whether fishing or hunting. He was always on the watch for Maxwell House Coffee sales so he could stock up. Coffee's important don't you know! Have fun up there my friend!
