Obituary of George Nelson Brooks

George enjoyed coaching sports, hunting, fishing, spending time at the trailer and traveling with Dorothy, they were inseparable. George was a builder by trade, a body man & retired from General Motors with 30 years of service. He touched many lives with being a friend and an understanding, giving man. Beloved husband of Dorothy (nee Rahme) of 58 years, passed away at Strathaven Lifecare Centre on Friday November 5th, 2010 in this 81st year after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. George was a devoted Dad to Debra Russell, James & Teresa Brooks, Cathryn & Harry Kamstra and Steven & Sheila Brooks. Loving Grandpa to Jennifer Brooks, Melissa Russell (Justin) & Brandon Brooks; Step-Grandpa to Angie Saulter (James) and step Great Grandpa of August & Sawyer. Dear brother of Evelyn Woolner (the late Colson), Stella Brown (the late Allan), Ervine Brooks (Marion), Lucille Brooks (Dan), Marvin Brooks (Suzanne) and Josie Doxtater. Predeceased by Esslie Brooks, Lena Froats (Stanley), Clarence Brooks (Velma) & Donald Brooks (Doris). Dear brother in law of Ileane Zarkovich (Sonny), Doug Rahme (Wyllene) and Jean Zealand. George will be lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews and many friends. To a special friend, Luke Prout, many thanks for all your help through the good time and the bad. At George’s request, a Private Family Service was held. Cremation. Interment will take place at Bowmanville Cemetery at a later date. Memorial Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
