I met Brenda about 12 years ago and had only to talk to her for a short time before I realized that here before me stood a woman who I would be honoured to call friend.
Brenda was a humble woman. She had little sense of self importance but rather put others needs before her own. If you asked Brenda for help, she was there in a moment with no questions asked. Her generosity came from the heart.
Brenda’s family meant everything to her and they cherished her…. as a mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, confidante, and friend. It was wonderful to see the care and deep connection within her family.
Brenda loved life. The lake was one of her favourite places to go just to sit and watch the waves and feel the breeze on her face. Each season she would take pictures of the lake, the shoreline, and the lake skyscape. They were beautiful photos…. she had an eye for the beautiful. She loved day trips and she loved cruises with her family. She loved cooking and loved to invite friends and family for one of her delicious meals. She had so much energy! She was always doing something or going somewhere. And walk fast! I am much taller than Brenda and I could not keep up with her!
We had so many laughs together and shared many a story.
One thing we knew for sure was that we could count on each other to be there in good times and in bad times. Hard to find a friend like this. Friends forever.
These last 3 years Brenda spent fighting for her life. The difficulties she had to endure over this time, are beyond describing. Her tenacity, courage, and perseverance in the face of anguish and suffering were something to behold. No words can describe this woman’s inner strength.
Brenda is a rare gem that I probably will not come across again in this lifetime. I am so very thankful for the time I had with her.
Rest in peace for awhile my dear friend and then soar like an eagle with a heart full of love. I dearly miss you.

I’m not sure how I will navigate this world without you here. You were such a big part of our lives and helped celebrate every milestone. You were always so excited to explore new places, always up for an adventure anywhere, but your favourite was definitely cruising. You loved the water, and would never miss the sun rising and setting! You may of liked the casinos on board too!!
Your love of Christmas was obvious because you had your tree up and decorated, gifts wrapped before December even started!!
Your fur babies Chubbs and Sadie were so devoted to you and you always felt so bad for leaving them after a long hospital stay. They would give you the cold shoulder but you would win them over again within minutes. You loved your family and friends so much and I know that is why you fought so hard to stay with us.
Towards the end of your battle, you knew your time here was running out. You let me know your wishes and we respected and fulfilled every one of them, but you made it easy for us because as usual, you asked for very little.
During your almost 3 year battle, you never complained once…NOT once. You never felt sorry for yourself or wanted any pity.
You amazed me with your strength, determination and courage.
You are the strongest woman I have ever known and I’m so proud to be your daughter.
You were and will always be my very first best friend. I will miss you every single day, but I know you will always be with me. I will treasure every single memory I have. Rest In Peace my beautiful Mother….you so deserve it. ❤️

I have so many memories of my beautiful friend Brenda, all the way back to when we worked together at Swiss Chalet in 1984, then getting an apartment right across the street. I was there when she got her licence, she was there when I had my boys, we were at each others weddings ( she actually introduced me to my husband ) I just can’t believe we won’t be making new memories. I am so glad she could come to my party this past Christmas. Covid robbed us of so much time together but we still managed, we would visit outside and we still managed a trip to the strawberry fields to pick fresh berries with a stop at Betty’s Butter Tarts. Yes we share a lot of food memories. But watching the toll this horrible illness was taking was the worst times we shared, I am so glad you are finally at peace. Fly free my sweet angel, I will be missing you until we meet again. I Love You my friend …Anne Smith
