There are so many words to describe the wonderful and incredible Kay Stephen. She was part of my life before I was even born and Nancy and I were destined to be close friends. Our Moms were friends as teenage girls growing up in Oshawa. They eventually settled with their new husbands on the same street in Bowmanville and the rest is history. Before long, Nancy and I were dragging her Easy Bake Oven to my house or my Johnny West, Jane West, Chief Cherokee, Flame and Thunderbolt toys to her house. Kay always welcomed me into their home and their lives as if I was a part of the family, which, of course, included frequent helpings of sage advice and an abundance of positivity and laughter. Even after two of Kay’s cars were totalled (what are the odds?) while parked in front of our house on Simpson Avenue, she took it in stride and focused on the fact that there was property damage but no people damage. Her outlook on life and her priorities were always on point. We should all be a little more like Kay. When I think of Kay, it is truly all smiles for a well-lived and generous life. She will be missed on earth by so many. My heartfelt condolences to Wendy, Butch, Nancy and her cherished grandchildren as you all figure out how to navigate this world without her. Love and hugs always.

I'm so sorry to hear about Kay....she always treated me like one of her daughters and I have nothing but wonderful memories of her love and care she gave to all who knew her....she was so kind to my daughters when they were little and such a thrill for her to make sure they were included in the Santa Claus Parade....she was that kind of thoughtful and generous person throughout her whole life...I will miss her but I will always hold her close in my memories....my love to all of you.

Mrs Stephen lived at The Octagon House for over 10 years and she made it a home for all. This photo exemplifies Mrs Stephen - horticulture and carefully selected pieces of furniture placed exactly right to beautify the environment. Inviting and honest and a Trinity United Bowmanville member, this is the Mrs Stephen we miss. Our prayers for Wendy, Butch, and Nancy and family. Thank you for modelling living, Mrs Stephen, all the blessings as you join Mr Stephen and my father and all your friends who have gone ahead.
