Although we were not close with Mrs. Playfoot, we are close friends with her son Bruce. His friendship to us and his kindness over the years is a testament to his upbringing by wonderful parents. Our condolences go out to both Bruce and his sister Janice and her children. Jean had many friends and will be surely missed.

I was sorry to read of the death of my friend Jean. We both came from England and met in Toronto many years ago when our children were still infants. We were both concerned that women with preschool children were isolated, not good for their mental health. As a member of the parish council of St. Paul Lamoreux Church in Scarborough, Jean proposed her church start a group that met weekly open to all women in the community. With strong support from the vicar, they went ahead. While the women participated in presentations by speakers on many subjects from health to hobbies, the children were cared for elsewhere. Jean was a loving Christian who always reached out to help others in need. Although we were separated geographically we kept in touch and I offer my condolences to her family, may they be comforted by many good memories. - Margaret Abela

I am so sorry to read of Jean's passing. She was such a kind, loving person whom I admired. We were former neighbours and had not been in touch for many years after I moved. Then we met up again, perhaps a year or so ago and spent a lovely afternoon and lunch together catching up. Chatted by phone a few times and I have been wondering how she was doing. Sincere condolences to all the family.
