Dear Cheryl, Bert, Dustin and family. I am so sorry to hear about Darryl’s passing. I haven’t seen him or Dustin since high school and I still have some vivid memories of your good-hearted family from some socials through our parents and their friends when I was much younger. Darryl and I never passed by each other in the Clarke High School halls without stopping to chat or just saying a quick hello. Somehow, we ended up in the same gym class one year even though I am Dustin’s age, and Darryl was always so kind and supportive especially on those days that I was that player that just couldn’t get the pass right in volleyball. He was such an athletic talent, yet so humble and truly a great person all around. Thinking of you all today as you celebrate his life with more family and friends whose hearts he also touched.

Daryl Reid, easily one of my most very favourite teammates ever. half my life i played Volleyball; Daryl stood alone; super-elite natural talent; remarkably modest; a wondrous record-shattering marvel. and a strong, kind, really nice, fun person. Daryl had an echoing genuine smile that lit up a gymnasium; he was bright eyed; and was a quiet supportive friend. i miss him badly already. i only knew Daryl for 1 year; and i hadn't seen or spoken with him for over 25 years. i was so looking forward to seeing him again next week for our 1996 Provincial Championship team Hall of Fame induction. i can't believe he is gone; tears as i write this; he was special. my best to Daryl's family and friends, new and old; and especially to good Dustin, who i also met that same year. i cannot attend in Orono tomorrow; but i will be there in spirit; and i have a good picture of Daryl on display. God speed to us all. may Daryl Reid rest in peace

I am so sorry for your loss. I have fond memories playing beach volleyball at Clarke High School with Daryl, Dustin, Shawn Sawyer, Trevor Lomax, and my brother Jason Bosak. We would go until dark and play for a popsicle freezy for bragging rights. Daryl was such a great athlete and even nicer guy. Thoughts and prays to your family. With love from BC Rod Bosak and family.
