"MEMORIES OF MIKE BY BILL WHITE" "I have many fond memories of Mike as we grew up together and were the greatest of friends throughout our childhood. One memorable adventure was in 1958 when we got lost in the woods at Buckshot Lake, got separated resulting in my finding the way out but Mike spending the night in the woods alone only to be spotted next day by plane and rescued. This ended up being written up in the newspapers. Time marched on and our friendship into adulthood had us both being taught to drive by my father, who later drove Mike to pick up his first car, a green Volkswagon "bettle-bug' that he flew around Bowmanville in for years. We were among the first members of the "Chauffeurs" car club that become quite popular around Bowmanville and area in the 1960's. Further moving on into our adulthood, we became interested in horses and rode our horses together in Bowmanville and all over the countryside. Also, Mike was best man at our wedding and was terrific as spokesperson. There is no end to the memories that I have of Mike which I will cherish and will truly miss him."
