My profound condolences to the family and friends of Marie Hubbard. I knew Marie when she served as the Chair of the Ontario Municipal Board, and I was a member. She was fantastic as chair, and as experienced and knowledgeable as they come. Marie had the respect of the staff, members, and legal community with her depth of knowledge of municipal planning, fairness, and respectfulness. I consider myself fortunate for having known and worked with her. She will be missed.

When I joined the Ontario Municipal Board in 2007, Marie was its chair. She was superb in the role, and I came to be both full of admiration and very fond of her. At our first meeting she said, “We old mayors do well here.” If this old mayor did, it was largely due to Marie. RIP my friend.

I had the pleasure of working with Marie from 2000 till 2005 at the OMB. She was one of the most remarkable women I've ever met, with a great sense of humour. I admired how she treated our staff so respectfully. The day she became Chair of the OMB was a day I'll never forget. I'll certainly never forget Marie. I'm very glad to have had her in my life.

I wasso very saddened to hear of Marie's death and I am sending my heartfelt condolences to her family and friends. I had the privilege of meeting Marie in 2019 when she was appointed as the Chair of the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal. I was the Acting Associate Chair of the Assessment Review Board. Marie was a mentor to me. She always had time to give, to help me with various questions I had about leadership and how to improve processes and procedures to ensure efficient and effective service for both stakeholders and the tribunal. In all our discussions it was evident how much Marie truly cared about people and her integrity and honesty was impeccable. I truly feel blessed to have had the opportunity to learn from such an incredible woman. I was also fortunate to share travel stories with Marie, and her love of nature was evident. She would tell me about all of the birdfeeders in her backyard and how she would watch the birds and be fascinated and filled with joy by them. A woman full of life and who truly lived her life. I will miss her. She was my friend. I am adding a photo of a cardinal and blue jay in her memory along with a picture taken this July when another colleague and I visited Marie.
