I am a member of Bowmanville Garden Club and Oshawa Garden Club and Merle and Emily were Life Members of both Clubs. Many hours of volunteer work are needed to earn this award. Maybe six years ago, she graciously gave me a tour of her garden, when her dahlias were all in bloom and you could easily see that she was a pro! Merle's name was mentined often in past newsletters, always winning the prize for the best in show rose. Garden club members have fond memories of Merle and Emily and appreciate the contributions they made to local horticulture.
