Obituary of Ann Martha Patry

Ann Patry

June 9, 1938 - January 27, 2022

It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Ann Martha (O’Neil) Patry, 83, loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister on Thursday, January 27th, 2022 at home surrounded by love.  

Born in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Agnes (Delaney) O’Neil.  Ann was a graduate of Saint Elizabeth’s Nursing School and worked in various hospitals in North Sydney and the Halifax area.  Her calling in life was to take care of others and that was most evident in the way she loved and cared for her family and extended family.  She was an incredibly strong spirited lady with a heart of gold— always thinking of ways to make others happy.  She showed grace and dignity throughout her life and an unwavering faith that continued to guide her in her final days.  

Along with her parents, Ann was predeceased by the love of her life and husband of 60 years Rene (2020), children Michelle (1991), Rene (1992) and Stephen (2021).  She was also predeceased by her twin sister Mary (Ratchford), sister Eileen, brothers Eddie and Michael.  Ann is survived by her loving and caring daughter Geralynn, son in law Gerald ( Bowmanville, ON), grandchildren Matthew (Woodbridge, ON), Michelle and husband Kyle (Oshawa,ON), Heather (Banff,AB) and Hannah (Bowmanville, ON), sister Beverley (Halifax, NS), brother Bernie/Sonny and wife Ann (Halifax, NS) and special sister in law Joan Fiander (Halifax, NS).  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she cherished and loved.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

We are so grateful to have had “Momma” in our lives and she will be fondly remembered by her many friends and will remain always in the hearts of her loved ones.

Those we love never go away, they live beside us everyday.

A wife, a mother, a grandma too, This is the legacy we have from you.
You taught us love and how to fight, you gave us strength, you gave us might.
A stronger person would be hard to find, and in your heart, you were always kind.
You fought for us all in one way or another, Not just as a wife not just as a mother.
For all of us you gave your best, Now the time has come for you to rest.
So go in peace, you’ve earned your sleep,
Your love in our hearts, we’ll eternally keep.
