John's passing is truly heartbreaking. My sincere condolences to the entire family and his many, many friends. I had the extreme pleasure of knowing and working with John (and his father Bob) in our early years at Parkway TV, helping at the store after school and on weekends. After watching the amazing service for him on line yesterday and hearing of how much he's added to the community and to other people's lives, it made me happy to see that he was still the person he was twenty something years ago.
It was nice to reconnect with John in and around Bowmanville , those twenty years later, when we bumped into one another on occasion.
Rest peacefully, John.

My deepest condolences. I'm so saddened to hear of Johns passing. Johnny and I grew up together on Linden Street and he was like a member of our family and my true friend. So many of my fond memories growing up as a child included Johnny. We would have some of the greatest adventures on our walks home from Harmony Rd Public School along with all the other neighborhood kids.
My parents and grandparents also thought the world of Johnny. He always had the biggest smile on his face...he would light up any room.

Our prayers for you continue. John's death has touched so very many of us because his life touched us in even more profound ways. I feel so honoured to have come to know him through my ministry at the time of death for so many families at Northcutt Elliott. I will miss his smile, his teasing, his silliness when appropriate, and his deep care and concern for families when called upon. John made my days brighter and he made this world brighter. Jonathan and I would like to offer our condolences to your family on your loss of John. We were so shocked and saddened when our elder called us. John was always happy, friendly and pleased to see us. I know he spent time praying for us when Jonathan was so ill, and he was so kind and helpful to me when I needed his professional help. We still remember how kind you were to us last time we came to church, and you slipped a pillow onto the seat to make Jonathan more comfortable during the service.
