Don , Karen, Allen…. News of Gail’s passing was sent to me by a former hockey team member of Karen’s. We shared many a chilly evening, or early morning at the rink! As you and Gail lived nearby… I was in Oshawa at the time, now Newtonville, so still neighbours, we also took turns with car pooling!
Your front driveway of a different colour each year was one of Gails signatures! …. I will remember her fondly.
The obit indicates she was with family and enjoying her life at the time of her death…. Take some comfort in that.
Our sincere condolences… Mary ( Griffiths) MacDonald, and Christine MacDonald.

To the family of Gail,
Sorry for your loss. I enjoyed her friendship. We played together in Lakeshore New Horizons Band and in a Brass quintet. In the quintet I ,Linda, played trombone and sat beside her. I appreciated her encouragement. In band, Bob, who played trombone sat beside. She enjoyed the batter and laughter in the back row. She will be missed by her fellow band members.
May your memories help you through your grief.

We are so sorry to hear of Gail's passing - she was always one I loved to see at family gatherings. She always seemed to keep track of what the younger cousins were doing with their schooling and lives and was eager to catch up. Glad we had a brief visit back in 2018 when we were last back in Ontario. She will always be warmly remembered!

Jill and I would like to extend our sincerest condolences to the Rickard and Williams family.
Cousin Gail was one of the most genuine and authentic people you could ever hope to meet. Her love of family and community were unparalleled, as evidence of her dedication to both. She was very generous by including us in many family gatherings, for which we are most thankful. My brother and I will be forever grateful to Gail for always including Verna (our Mother), in her family events.
We know that Gail will be greatly missed, by all who knew her. No doubt the world is a better place because of her.
We hope that all the wonderful memories you have of Gail will help you through this difficult time.

I met Gail at a Library Course at York U in 1992 and we became fast friends right away. Not just because we shared lots in common, but also because of deep rooted family connections. We shared many meals, many laughs and good times as girlfriends, as families and as couples. Gail was always kind and thoughtful, and I will miss our lunches and phone chats a lot. She was a wonderful friend.

My heartfelt sadness to Don and family. I knew Gail for about 45 years. Prayers and condolences to Don, and all Gail's family and friends from Gerry and Sue Gammond. Don and Gail were a year ahead of Gerry and me at the Ontario Agricultural College. We have lots of wonderful memories of hockey games and Don's brothers, Jim and Walter, and Gail's tales of working in England with Donna Cassie and Rob McLaughlin. We used to have a yearly visit at the Royal. Our last visit was just a few years ago, when Gail and Don stayed overnight with us here at our farm, near Thunder Bay, on their way out west by car.

Our deepest sympathy to Don and family at the sudden passing of a wonderful, accomplished, selfless, fun woman.

we all smiled and she was a joy to be with, interesting and engaging.
I can only imagine the hole she has left but the thought of her will remain in our memory. She will be sorely missed.

I was both shocked and saddened by the news of Gail’s passing. She was such a wonderful person, who seemed ageless and immortal somehow. I first met Gail when I was “Dean” at the Campbellford Centre for Individual studies. I know she was an excellent administrator, teacher and role model. I enjoyed many gatherings with Gail and our other teaching colleagues. I loved getting tips from her…ie (how to perfectly bake an apple pie)…Learning of Gail’s passing reminds me to be the BEST I can be,,,to be kind and fair and giving.
She was Iike that. RIP and “see you on the other side” Gail Rickard. Love to all of your family.

Gail was the unofficial leader of our group of retired teacher friends. She had just hosted a brown bag backyard lunch at her home and was organizing a more formal luncheon at the Oshawa Golf and Curling Club. She always kept a lively conversation going and yes, was usually dressed in purple! She cared very much about her friends and we were emailing back and forth until she was to head for the fishing camp and I to surgery at Sunnybrook. I can't imagine carrying on without her but that is what she would have wanted. Mary McCaw

To Don and family - I am so sorry for your loss. Gail's loving, kind, and generous commitment to her family and her community will be dearly missed by all. Gail was an incredibly proud Purple Grandma and I so enjoyed receiving pics and updates on Everett, Norah, and Stevie. I recall a few years ago (before Stevie) Gail inviting me over one afternoon to see her little visitors Everett and Norah. During my visit, we chased Everett around the tree in the backyard and I was unsure who was having the most fun - Everett or his Purple Grandma - with their heads thrown back laughing. I hope the incredible memories you have shared over the years with your wife, your Mom and your Purple Grandma, bring you some comfort during this difficult and sad time. Love and prayers, Megan Elliott

Don and family and the Williams family ... how shocking to read Gail's obituary. It doesn't seem possible that someone who had so much energy and zest for life is now still. I only knew Gail for a relatively short but wonderful time with Community Care involvement. From the first connection, the friendship was totally instant and magnetic. Her wonderful sense of humour and contagious people skills were immediately evident. Forever after, each time we worked together was riotous and totally congenial. I extend to all the families my sincere sympathy as you go forward with this huge void in your lives. May God grant you peace and strength as you deal with this loss, but let us all rejoice with the amazing memories she has left and the amazing joy she brought to so many lives. We can only imagine the sparkle she's already making in the heavenly realm and choir. God will be so pleased. Thoughts and prayers to all of you. Ashton McMaster
