Where to begin. To say this has left a huge hole in my heart is an understatement! I’ve lost my big sister, my best friend! I will miss so much about you Kelley; our tea chats, puzzle making, craft days, shopping days to get in those HomeSense fixes. You were my own personal Ann Landers, my Dr Phil, my Vera Wang, my Joanna Gaines. I could tell you anything and everything you grounded me, you set me straight when I seemed lost or uncertain in all aspects of my life.
You inspired me every day with your strength, your courage, your bravery and your fight as you fought this horrible disease! As you took one step forward the cancer would knock you two steps back but you still never gave up! You kept fighting! Like the warrior you are!! You fought and fought through multiple surgeries, chemo and radiation treatments and tons of horrible side effects. You selflessly went through a clinical trial cancer procedure with your brain mets knowing deep down inside it wasn’t going to help you but it was going to help millions and millions of women in the future. I can’t be more proud of you to tell you, you did it!
The Drs at Sunnybrook have advised Neil that the paper they wrote about focused ultrasound in breast cancer metastasis was accepted for publication. This publication will lead to many trials launched around the world and is the first step towards this treatment becoming more widely available. You have made history Sis!
We grew up together being only 11 months apart, twins the hard way mom would always say. And yes I know, I always reminded everyone you were actually the oldest, this will probably never change. :) xo
We were always known as twins and we hated that, but who could help not thinking that when mom dressed us in exactly the same outfits, oh they were different colours of course, like that made it right. Truth be told, I’m honoured and extremely proud beyond words to be your “twin” xo
All our memories of our younger years growing up; teasing Kev, getting in trouble, which led to kneeling in corners, camping, our shared bedrooms with posters everywhere of our future husbands Starsky & Hutch and Shaun Cassidy, the giggles and secrets we shared between those walls will forever be in my heart. All our family holidays together, shopping days, trips, talks, and crafting together; all these memories I will cherish and use to help me through this healing process of losing you.
I spend nights staring up at the ceiling praying & hoping to see you. If you’re there please give me a sign. I want you to visit me often .. I will never stop needing you.
Rest In Peace my beautiful Sister.
Until we meet again, save me a seat at the crafting table so we can continue where we left off.
I Love You!
XOXO
Forever, Your Roxy <3

I’d like to begin by expressing my deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to Neil, and to Kelley’s family. May you find comfort in knowing you are not alone in your grief, you are surrounded by those who knew and loved her. She was such a beautiful person... she touched so many lives and will be greatly missed.
My friendship with Kelley stemmed from our work as nurse colleagues at Bowmanville hospital in ‘99-2009. I always enjoyed the night shifts that we worked together in the early days. It wasn’t “work” when Kelley was there. She was a kind and gentle nurse, with a special sense of humour and a generous heart. She’d tell funny stories about her dog Harley then, and invited us to a pot-luck gathering at her beautiful log house. As time went on, we shared monthly lunch or dinner get-togethers, coffee catch-ups, Christmas dances and kayaking. A few of us nurses went camping one summer, oh what fun we had! I will treasure the memories of our friendship always.
Rest in peace my dear friend.
Love Helen xo

We are sharing our favourite pictures of Kelley - her style, her fur babies and their devotion to her, and Kelley and Opa, together now in Heaven.
We are awed by Kelley's strength, courage, determination and grace throughout her long fight with cancer.
Kelley, may you rest in peace. Even though you were taken from us much too soon, we will hold you in our hearts forever.

I had the privilege of going to nursing school with Kelley, graduating in 1992 from DC. Neil & Robert, our husbands, worked together at GM, so we had that connection, too. What struck me about Kelley was her beauty, both outward & inner. She always had a kind word to say! We didn't get to work together, as Kelley was at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville, myself at Oshawa. The last time I saw Kelley was in November 2018 at our 25th work anniversary celebration. Our deepest condolences to you, Neil, and her whole family on the loss of such a precious woman. Love, Ava & Robert Pelz♥️

My beautiful Kelley there are no words to describe the hole I feel in my heart. It has been two weeks since you passed away and I still cannot believe that you are gone. I pick up the phone to call or text you every day. I know in my heart we had to let you go and I pray you will guide us all on how to move forward.
Kelley had asked me to share this poem to help all of us...
Reading: “SHE IS GONE” BY DAVID HARKINS
You can shed tears that I am gone
Or you can smile because I have lived
You can close your eyes and pray that I will come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all that I have left
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see me
Or you can be full of the love that we shared
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday
You can remember me and only that I am gone
Or you can cherish my memory and let it live on
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what I would want: smile, open your eyes, remember me, love and go on for I am in all of you.
I miss you. I love you. Watch over us and protect us.
All my love,
Michelle

My Deepest sympathies to Neil & Kelley's family. I'm saddened to hear what Kelley went through these last few years. She was a beautiful person inside & out; always warm & friendly. I last saw her last year when I ran into her shopping. She had a gorgeous long blond wig on.
I too had the privilege to work with Kelley at LHB. She always had fashionable uniforms and stylish hairdos. But she also was a caring, compassionate, competent, organized and hardworking nurse.

Kelley,
Neil and Kelley created a beautiful home together, a place of tranquility that hugged you in all the right places. Kelley always being the most amazing host of so many of our gatherings. They also gifted beautiful pieces of woodwork, signs etc that have more meaning than anything one could find in a store. Kelley, you had a light that reached so many near and far! I never saw the “ew” that Kelley battled, only our beautiful friend that was so loved and adored. Although our hearts are absolutely broken, I’m thankful for the legacy of wonderful memories, stories and pictures that remain. I have no doubt that Kelley went into her sunset feeling how much she was loved. Healing hugs to all that were lucky enough to know Kelley, especially Neil Bob.
Love and friendship always. Your soul sister,
Kelly xo

I’m so sorry for your loss. Kelley was a truly special person, and every one of us who helped look after her were touched by her warmth, generosity of spirit, and kindness. She will be dearly missed, and our thoughts are with your family.
This past week, we found out that the paper we wrote about focused ultrasound in breast cancer Metastases, the study that Kelley was in, was accepted for publication. This publication will lead to many trials launched around the world, and is the first step towards this treatment becoming more widely available.

Kelley and I worked together at a group home back in the 90’s . We had so many laughs which helped us through many trying shifts. I remember the day her and Neil got married and stood across the street from St. Gertrudes to show our clients Kelley in her beautiful dress. A few years back her and I met up again and it was like no time had passed. I’m so grateful I had that one last visit with her. To Neil and all of Kelley’s family, my heart goes out to you all and I’m so truly sorry for your loss.
