Obituary of Dirkje Vandenburg

Dirkje (Vicky) Vandenburg

(nee Hoogendoorn)

On July 23, 2021 our Beloved wife, Mama and Grandma went Home to be with her Lord and Saviour.

Dear wife for 66 years to Gerrit.  Beloved mother to John (Cindy), Margaret (Rob), the late Marian (John), Susan (Brian), Peter (Pam), Debbie (John), Michael (Mary Claire), Lee-Anne and the late Mickey.  Devoted Grandma to 25 grandchildren and Great Grandma to 18, her love for her children never wavered.

Dirkje (Vicky) was one of 13 children born to Pieter and Grietje Hogendoorn in Nieuwerkerk, Holland.  From her profession as a nurse to mother, foster parent, caregiver to children with special needs and Grandma, Vicky devoted her entire life to caring for others.  She instilled in her family a love of singing, reading, gardening, games, camping and outings!  Vicky contributed to many charitable organizations, provided a soaring soprano in choirs for 64 years and enjoyed babysitting for Young Mom’s groups.  She humbly walked through life with her Lord and modeled His servant-heart.

Our family would like to express our gratitude to the Memory Lane staff at Season’s Clarington for their excellent, loving care for Vicky.
