Peacefully in Northumberland Hills Hospital. Survived by his lifelong boon companion and wife, Genevieve MacAulay and 3 cousins, Patsy Watson, Janet Suddick and Kelly Sublet.
Jeff graduated from St. Michael’s College, attended the University of Toronto, graduated Osgoode Hall law school and became a lawyer with Day Wilson Campbell, and subsequently, with Miller Thomson LLP.
JKS, as he was known at the office, was astute, impossibly well-read and possessed of a practical wisdom which he graciously shared with all who had the good fortune to be mentored by him, by all of whom he will be remembered with great affection.
One of his great loves was sailing for decades out of RCYC. He and some other adventuresome chums crossed the Atlantic in a small boat. An avid traveler, he and Genevieve visited many destinations throughout the world, including Antarctica, and while on a one month voyage from Cardiff to Cape Town, spent a week on the island of St. Helena.
While he was a native Torontonian, as a young man he acquired a lakeside property near Newcastle which he turned into an orchard and at which he spent most weekends, winter and summer, entertaining a host of friends, always supported with lots of Chardonnay.
He was a voracious reader on virtually any subject and merely a casual TV viewer except on Saturday evenings when he dropped everything to watch Jeannie Becker’s Fashion Television.
In accordance with Jeff’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private cremation has taken place. A celebration of a life well lived will be held at such time as COVID restrictions will permit Jeff’s good friends to gather to that purpose. Until then, a farewell to a man for all seasons.
