John was the very best father, in law and Grampa ever. ❤️ So many wonderful memories. We all love and miss you so very much. I feel so blessed to have had you in my life. Till we meet again we remember you with a smile and take comfort knowing you and Gramma Irene are together again.

I was saddened to read of John's passing. As a volunteer with a local organization, I looked forward to seeing John and enjoying a chat and sharing a laugh with him. He always spoke proudly and lovingly of his family and never failed to ask after mine. He was a true gentleman. My sincere condolences to his family.

My Grandpa always knew how to light up every room he entered. I am so blessed with every laugh and wonderful memory I have with him and I couldn’t be more thankful. You are dearly missed Grandpa John love you and Grandma so much ❤️

Deepest condolences. I always remember John making a fireplace and shelf for his brother ( my Dads) house in East Kilbride, Scotland. It lasted 50 years! Photo of John and his family attached. David Gourlay.

Uncle John,
Steadfast , resilient and true. You lived your life with kindness and love and the most wicked sense of humour. Whatever life threw at you you found a way to adapt and move on - what an inspiration you were to us all! - get to McDonalds come hell or high water!
Your wicked sense of humour could sometimes land you in hot water but to those of us who knew you ,it made us love you all the more.
It always gave me great comfort to know that you were there whenever I needed you. You always made a plan - sometimes they were of the best laid kind ...

John had a twinkle of the devil in his eye, so fun loving and a great sense of humor. It's hard to believe I won't see him bombing up or down Mearns on a coffee run. I will truly miss this kind hearted man. Be in peace John and If you have any pull up there, can I shoot under 100 on the golf course.

To my darling brother in law John. You were part of our family even before Rob and I were born and even though for many years we lived apart, you, Irene and the family were always in our hearts. I'll miss our wee phone calls, we always had a laugh but you're with your soulmate, my beautiful sister Irene and I'll be thinking of you both every day for the rest of my life. Thinking of you all at this difficult time. You Dad was 1 in a million. Always so kind, caring and funny funny funny. Loved out long chats about nothing and will always remember the bumper sticker on the van and the lesson he gave me to figure out what on earth it said. 'don't follow me Im lost' is a statment I will always remember thanks to John and Irene. BIg hugs.

Peter and I will miss Johns smiling face while travelling on his scooter. He always had a kind word and a great sense of humour. Will also miss your humorous comments when we were in our pool.
