Dear Ron, Deb and extended Lootsma family, I was very saddened to learn this evening of Freddie's passing. My condolences to you all. During our younger Immanuel years, I got into a few scraps with Freddie. I was a year older and probably taller, but I was scared of him and he got the better of me at least once.... Fun to see that pic if him in the Bruins shirt and to read Ian's memories; they were both good soccer players and it was always fun to play against Fernhill-Nipigon. I think we got along better in the later grades. A few of us (I think Freddie, Ian, Pam, Julie, Gail, myself) met up for skating one evening at one of the Oshawa rinks. At one point, maybe to impress the ladies, Freddie and I agreed to have a race the length of the ice. It was a good race. Freddie was the faster, but as he reached the end, he tumbled and fell into the boards. I think he got a concussion and an ambulance was summoned. It was scary. I think that event drew everyone there a bit closer at the time.... I am very sorry for your loss and I pray for comfort and strength, and fond memories too, at this difficult time. Shalom, Eric Hogeterp (Ottawa)

Thank you for your comforting words Ben and Terri. This picture really does capture Fred well. We were camping at our favourite family park, Charleston Lake. Suzette and Ron were behind Fred in the Canoe. Canoeing and rock jumping are some of our favourite family activities. Fred will be there with us in spirit when we return.
Take Care,
Deb

Very sad to hear of the news today. My condolences to Ron, Deb and your mom. I have many fond memories of my times with "Freddie" in my early years. Walking to school together and playing hockey and basketball in his driveway, swimming at the Oshawa Civic, biking all around Oshawa and hanging out in the park on many occasions. Also remember playing soccer on the Fernhill Park team together. Remembering we found a bunch of cash at the Oshawa Center one day too. For sure - he was a rambunctious kid. I am so sorry for your loss.

As a fellow redheaded kid sitting with my family at our usual pew in Hebron I clearly remember that cute red headed little boy squirming up front beside his parents. My condolences to all, gone way to soon.
