To Uncle Bob, Chris, Teresa and family, please accept our deepest condolences, and may God bless you all and give you comfort as you grieve the loss of a very special woman. Denise, Mitch and I will certainly miss Aunt Kaye and will cherish the great memories we have of her.
She was a very sincere and caring person, and instantly made you feel comfortable and at ease, regardless of how long it had been since last meeting up. I loved the times when she used to regale us with tales of family history. Her knowledge of the subject was deep: she could look at an old, 100-year-old family photo and give you a story about each and everyone in the shot. Ancestry.ca just couldn't compete with Aunt Kaye!
I'm also very thankful for the time we had chatting over the years about music. Both Aunt Kaye and I loved the classic American Songbook music of the Gershwins, Cole Porter and others, and she used to fondly reminisce about the opportunities she had to sing this great music throughout her singing career.
She certainly also knew her way around an old Irish folk song too: a fond memory I have of Aunt Kaye is her singing an impromptu, heartfelt rendition of 'Danny Boy' at a gathering at my Aunt Clare and Uncle Joe's place, after her father's funeral. She also helped me that day remember the lyrics to the more obscure (at least to me!) 'The Star of the County Down', which I was hopelessly making a mess of when trying to sing it with her. I was amazed that she knew all these old Irish tunes.
When we last were together in 2019, I was really surprised to hear Aunt Kaye tell another tale of her time as a singer--one which I had never heard before: that she had met backstage and was on the same bill with this up-and-coming, gangly young kid named Buddy Holly, the night before he tragically lost his life in a plane crash. Another badge of cool for the larger-than-life, amazing Aunt Kaye.
We are all certainly going to miss Kaye, but are all feeling blessed and grateful for her having been a part of our lives. I'm sure she's up in Heaven right now having a few laughs with my Dad, being reunited with many of her friends, and belting out a beautiful ballad!

We enjoyed spending the day last year with Aunt Kaye and Bob, hearing all her great stories and sharing with us some of our ancestry. We had never heard some of the stories about her singing career before. We will always remember most, her generosity of spirit. She always made you feel welcome and certainly we will always be thankful for her help planning our wedding. She always had a flare for entertaining!! We have so many fond memories. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you Bob, Chris, Teri and all her grandchildren.

Kaye dear friend we will miss you dearly. A Serority sister in Beta Sigma Phi we shared many stories and attended events together. The four of us organized many events in the Knights of Columbus, you and Bob were always there to help us. We also shared so many memories as we taught Preparation to marriage courses and Baptism courses at Prince of Peace Church. We will remember all the parties we hosted at that Church and the dances we organized. Now you can hold all these reunions in heaven with your family and friends who welcome you home. Andre & Monique

She's gone....my sister
Kaye is with my brother, dad and mother
and probably singing in a heavenly choir.
Kaye, the matriarch of our family,
all she wanted was to keep us near
well, Kaye, now we are
and your not here.
Such a lady, sister, wife mother and grandmother
embraced life like no other
always there, orchestrating,
advising, planning,
praying
and of course, because she was Kaye
complaining, crying, scolding
but the first to be consoling.
Kaye, singing with the Big Bands
at Church, parties, even Cruise Lines
always singing
Now she is gone.
God how I will miss her so.
As her sister I was so proud
and envious too.
She was so pretty
she could sing,
she had curly hair
her own room
Everything.
If there was no Pandemic
we'd be in Church now
She'd be laid out in an evening gown
because
I know that is what she'd want to wear.
And we would all be there
Chris and his family at her side
me and my siblings standing together
and Bob
who loved her all these years
remembering Kaye amid his tears.
And her Wilmot friends and
precious Sorority girls
all there for sure
And all who knew and loved her
over the years.
The choir would sing
and Mass would be said
and she'd be listening to how we sing
while trying on her Angel wings.
To the matriarch who worried so,
Kaye we'll be just fine
we have the same genes
Mike, Lorna, Marylin and Clare.
RIP big sister
With a song in my heart for you
Love, Clare

This picture is from her 90th birthday in August. One of the days she was most happy. She got a lot of cards from her relatives and strangers. The wind kept blowing our attempt at lighting her candles. So she decided to improvise and just blow out the candles anyway.
