Dear Mrs. Engel, Terry, Stephen, Sandra and Craig and families. Our family have so many happy memories of living next to you, and later visiting you in Locust Hill, and even visiting Mr. & Mrs. Engel past Peterborough. We are thankful that God put our families together, and that through my mom and a little bit of Facebook, we have been able to stay connected, even if only in a small way. Tiffany and Stephen both paid beautiful tributes to your Opa and dad. Thank you for sharing more of Mr. Engel's story than I have ever known. It really is beautiful what God can do and does, as He did throughout Mr. Engel's life. May we all obey, live, sacrifice and die by faith when it is our time. May God bring you all much comfort in the days and years ahead as you miss your husband, dad and Opa, but knowing that he is happy, at rest, at peace, in full health, beyond what any of us can imagine.
XOXO Suzanne Nelson (Reich)
P.S. Mrs. Engel, we all love that mischievous glimmer in your eye, just as we loved Mr. Engel's beautiful smile.

Tony was a lively, engaging man; I considered him my friend. It was always a pleasure to see him when he came into the office. I remember visiting him at the home he shared with Ria and marvelling at his woodworking creations. He had made a piece of furniture for me and took the time to show me his workshop and some of his train collection, explaining how he was going to move it all to his new house - which seemed like an impossible task!
There were many days, after Tony came to see me, that I would go home with another interesting story and say to my wife, “Remember Tony Engel?” I am truly saddened that there will be no more days like this.
To Ria and the whole Engel family, please accept my heartfelt condolences on your loss and may you take comfort in your memories.

Gloria and I were truly saddened to hear the news of Tony's passing. We had heard that he was not well but didn't expect this so soon. We reflect on the Engel Family during our time attending the same church in Markham. We always remember Tony's pleasant smile and happy greetings. Tony became an integral part of the membership there and was very much involved. He became part of the leadership for a period of time. He stepped up to the plate at Christmas times and used his carpentry skills making props for the Christmas presentations. He used his video camera to record the children's and choir presentations, as well as the many skits during our banquets. We truly enjoyed our friendships during those times. We then end up moving and find ourselves going separate ways, such as life is.
At this time we're thinking of Ria and the children, and pray for God's comfort of love and sustaining strength as you journey the days ahead. God is forever present as we weather those storms of live.
With all our love, Calvin & Gloria Perry

I first met Ria and Tony & Ria at the TD bank Queen & Logan. For me I learned a valuable lesson of life watching them navigate the early years of marriage and raising a child. We were so young then but so full of promises. They did it and did it so well as partners and I have shared their story with so many doubting Thomas's. This was 1960 and my first job when we crossed paths. The interesting part of the story is that in all those years we seldom met because life takes us onto different paths. Bob and I married in 1964 Tony and Ria attended our wedding and we attended their 25th surprise wedding anniversary.
The connection was in sending Christmas cards to one another. Every few years the numbers would change with the addition of children. Always remembered a very special couple. Rest in peace Tony

Dear Maria and family:
Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss of Tony. I remember very well working with you and Tony at Queen and Logan TD branch, when we were little more than teenagers starting out in the working world, I remember the time when Tony broke his arm while changing a wheel on his car and the long painful recovery. I also remember our manager of the branch at the time, Mr. Morgan, who helped Tony get home for Christmas in Windsor one year when money was tight. Those were some good times and I was fortunate to have known Tony and yourself. Take good care of yourself and all the very best to you and the family.
Kind regards, John Roberts

Dear Ria: It was such a pleasure to get to know you and Tony at our church services and when I was able to visit at your beautiful home. I was deeply impressed with Tony's love for the Lord and for His word. May our precious Saviour give you and your family strength during this time. May you experience the Lord's presence. Mr.Engel, also known as Sam to me, will always have a very special place in my heart. I grew up spending a great deal of time at the Engel’s and have so many wonderful memories. I have always loved that they are Ma and Pa Engel.

Pieter and I send our deepest condolences to Aunt Ria and to my cousins and their children. We weep with you during this time of mourning and send our prayers for peace and comfort. Uncle Tony got me a job with the TD Bank when I was just a teenager, and both he and Aunt Ria opened their home to me. I will always remember Uncle Tony's wry sense of humour, his guitar playing, and his rendition of "Ham Bone." He also procured a beautiful classical guitar for me and encouraged me to play. I am so grateful for these wonderful memories. Rest in peace, Uncle Tony. Love, Marlet and Pieter
