We were incredibly sad to find out that Al has passed away, though we take great comfort in knowing he is reunited with his dear Velma for eternity. Al was our neighbor and our yard backed on to his. He welcomed us warmly when we moved in twelve years ago, and my husband Jason spent many summer days talking to him about his garden over the fence. He always had a friendly smile and kind word to share with us, and he really made the neighborhood feel like a welcoming place. He was incredibly generous and easy to love talk to. We saw him less in the past few years, but he always remembered to drop us a Christmas card every December. Seeing his kitchen light on always gave me a great sense of comfort, knowing he was there, even though we didn't see him as often in the yard these past few years. He was a beloved member of the community, and we will always think of him. Rest in peace, Al, we miss and cherish you.
