I am so very sorry to hear about mrs Abernethy’s passing. I was also greeted with a warm hello and her bright smile when I would come by to deliver the mail. I often would take a minute to have a little chat with her she was a very sweet lady. I will miss when her and Cecil would drive by me always with a smile and a friendly wave. Xo

I loved myAunt Chris...When I was younger my Aunt and Uncle bought me a Barbie. I never forgot that because I was around seven. We had just recently moved to Trenton and our Dad was in the hospital in Kingston. One of my Best Christmases ever in my Life. My Beloved Mom and her were sister-in-law's. She was married to My Uncle Cec. I remember her giving me a brooch of hers with skates on it. I loved skating. My Nanny loved her and so did everyone else. She was always an Awesome Hostess. Just made you feel Welcome! She always treated My Dad with affection. Her hugs and and laughter were contagious. She was oneof the Girls. She is Loved and will be very much missed. My heart goes out to My Uncle Cecil and My Cousin Shell.

In this afternoon’s funeral service for Mrs Crystal Abernethy, the minister spoke about Mrs Abernethy’s love for family. As a homemaker, she had created via her kindness, her garden, and her kitchen on Orchardview a warm and welcoming home for Mr Abernethy and Shelley, her immediate family.
Over the years after Mr Abernethy retired in his late forties from GM, they would regularly come up to the Coronation for chips with gravy. I often wondered what this couple, who already spent so much time together in their own home, would have to talk about still as they sipped their coffees. I realize Mr and Mrs Abernethy were sharing - they really liked each other’s company.
Growing up in Bowmanville for me meant the unceasing routine of ‘The Bermuda Triangle’: the house, my school, the restaurant. Mrs Abernethy, God bless her heart, shared with us a deeper sense of the hometown by squeezing into our very tight schedule these annual invitations to her home. As the Reverend spoke about today, Mrs Abernethy’s potato salad and egg sandwiches, and other delicious treats we always looked forward to, sometimes in the backyard and often in the kitchen. Whatever the location, it was her sincere welcoming nature and the hominess of the Abernethy family that I looked forward to.
I share this in common with Mr Abernethy - I liked Mrs Abernethy’s company too.
I remember Mrs Abernethy with respect and gratitude for sharing so many hours with us and I thank her family for sharing her with us. Our deepest sympathies and prayers for Mr Abernethy and Shelley.
Sincerely, Janice Seto 20200925

MeiMei Seto just saw the obituary notice and let the rest of the Seto family know. We are so sorry to learn of the passing of Mrs Crystal Abernethy, and our deepest condolences for Mr Abernethy and Shelley and the rest of the family. Mrs Abernethy was so kind to us all, we saw her family regularly at the Coronation - she was genuinely interested in people and her Bowmanville home. And she generously hosted us at her home with the garden and delicious cookies and more from her cozy kitchen. We remember her dearly. God bless you, Mrs Abernethy, all the love in heaven.

My Aunt was one of the most loving people I knew.
As a child I was always excited to go and visit my aunt and uncle. We spent many summers together camping and having fun. The hardest day of my life was when I had to say goodbye to my own mother, Aunt Chris and Shelly were both by my side giving me the strenth and support I needed
Aunt Chris you will be deeply missed. Thank you for all the love you gave your family.
