From my Facebook Post June 17, 2020
Last night I lost my hero, my greatest mentor, my best friend, my stepfather, my DAD! After a long fight with dimentia, strokes, re-habilitation, major brain bleed, hospitalized for a long period of time before a bed opened up at Port Perry Place LTC home, then having his family forced to do window and video chats only due to this damned pandemic.
I want to thank the Dr and staff at Port Perry Place for doing what they could and getting dad to Lakeridge Health Oshawa hospital. Also a big thanks to the Dr’s, nurse Maggie and staff on the Supportive Care unit for being so caring and compassionate in comforting mom and I and with dad’s care in his final hours of life. Due to Covid only 1 person is allowed to be with patients but they made an exception for me because dad was so sick and I’m so thankful. God bless everyone of you!
To my dad, I’m honoured that I could be there to say my final goodbyes and relay goodbyes from your grandchildren. I’m honoured to have all the wonderful memories, funny and crazy stories that are you! Thank you for being a huge part of me being great at what I do. I learned from you something I could never learn while learning any trade and that is, no matter what, there’s always a way to do what needs to be done. You taught me to think farther outside of the box then anyone else. Thank you for keeping your word to that frightened boy, his little sister and mother, that we were all safe now and that you would take care of us all.
Goodbye my hero, my greatest mentor, my best friend, my stepfather MY DAD I love you, see you on the other side.
