I had the honour and privilege of being Al's and Dana's friend and hairstylist for many yrs. I met Dana when she was a young girl and Al when he was in his late teens. Well before they knew each other. I remember how surprised and happy I was that they had met and fallen in love. Al is a man with depth, charm and character and therefore I could easily appreciate Dana's choice for a worthy partner in life. Al and I were always able to share our philosophical and faith based theories of life and beyond and will greatly miss those chats and insights. As i read of his passing i was greatly saddened because i was thinking how much I'll miss his smiling and welcoming personality every time he entered the shop. For this time only i will miss him, but someday with certainty we will be reunited. God Bless you Dana and families on both sides.

I first met Al as a student at R.S. McLaughlin back in the early 2000's. He took me under his wing and introduced me to people in the local music business that I would have never met otherwise. These connections granted me a career in an industry that I would not have had an easy time navigating on my own.
One person who Al introduced me to was Lisa, the owner at the time of the Velvet Elvis in Oshawa. It was a happy coincidence that Al's and my birthday were only days apart. He put together a big "January Monuments" show at the Elvis to celebrate.
I fell out of touch with Al in recent years when he moved on to another school, but I always look back fondly on his kindness.
My condolences to Dana and his family, I know he will be missed greatly.

When I think of Al, I think about him dancing at one of the million shows we were all at back in the day. Huge smile, beer in hand , dancing his face off! I think about his Magical, and mischievous grin, and his ability to always say the thing you needed to hear at the precise moment. Thanks for everything Al. You’re the best. Au revoir mon amie.

My deepest condolences to Dana and all the family on Allan's passing. I worked with Al at R. S. McLaughin for about 5 years. I still remember the bounce in his walk. Al was an upstanding guy whom was always there to talk too.He was always up for a discussion and never backed down until he got his point across(right or wrong). He and I shared the chief jobs until I left in 2002. I remember Al and my birthday's were exactly one week apart him being the older. When it was his 40th birthday we decorated the Custodial room for his day. Not to be out done Al decorated the room for my birthday and needless to say he out decorated me. Even though we didn't see each other much after I left I always considered Al a friend that I could call for support or just to say Hi how's it going? and he could always count on me. When his posting came up I emailed Al to ask what was going on. He told me he was retiring and was going to do something else. He never indicated to me that he was not well and I just left it at that and thought he will enjoy retirement. Found out later through co-workers that he was not well. I so pulled for Al to get better and beat this sickness but unfortunately he didn't . I know that Al will live on in your hearts and the world will be a little darker now that we have lost a character like Allan Cole. Rest in peace Buddy. Darin

I am very sorry to hear of Al's passing. It is true that a light has definitely gone out in our world. Al was an incredible person and it was a pleasure and privilege to get to work with him. He truly cared about the school, the kids, the staff and the world around us. We used to have great discussions about fireflies, turtles and other conservation issues. Al was always coming up with wonderful ideas to try with the kids (my own and my class) to encourage a love of nature. He will be missed.
Sincerely, Kelly Harrison

To Dana and family and Al's dearest friends - we're so very sorry to hear about Al's passing and sending our heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. I wanted to share this photo of Al and Mike which was taken in your garage back in 2010. "Bradley Boy" played some great tunes that night and then it was bonfire time along with lots of hard laughing. Al had a knack for honing in on AMAZING bands and sharing their sounds with the rest of us - we were lucky to part of his musical world - and for that I am truly thankful. Take care of your selves and each other. ** BIG HUGS ** Christine & Rob

Our deepest condolences to Dana and family. For many years Al and Dana were our neighbours- and you couldn’t have asked for better ones! Al used blow the snow from half his front yard to make a path for our family to walk safely to the school bus. We will remember Al for his warm smile, eager wave, taking Jake for a walk, and great chats over the fence. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Visits with Dana and Al were always happy affairs but my favourite memories are from sharing time with them in St. Maarten. Al always had such a zest for life, looking forward to each new day. I will miss his cheerful greetings and his enthusiastic outlook on life. My sincere love and condolences.

Al was my Chief custodian at R.S McLaughlin. He was always in a good mood. His trademark whistling in the hall always let you know he was coming. He cared deeply about people and would get super excited for you when you shared good news that was happening in your life. He spoke of his wife Dana and his son Craig often. And his Jakie too. With love and pride. The world was a better place with him in it and I'm so very sorry for the family for his loss.
