I am so sorry to just now hear of Ewan's passing. We worked together in the GIS field, him at Markham and we were his technology vendor. I used to have long talks with Ewan on our mutual love for cycling and only living 10kms away from him in Enniskillen we compared cycling routes, our love for being out on the road. Being both in the same area, I always kept an eye out for him while I was out on my rides in that area, knowing he was now retired and enjoying more time to ride.
Condolences to Ewan's family. He was a wonderful person to work with and will be surely missed.

I was very sorry to hear about the passing of Ewan. He and I worked at the Town of Markham Planning Department together for a number of years and we shared in common that we had lived two doors apart on Madelaine Crescent in Brampton. He was always a good fellow with a great sense of humour and will be missed.

I was a colleague of Ewan's at the City of Markham. I liked Ewan for his quiet strength and calm professionalism. I now realize he drew his strength from his family, his faith, a community of friends and loved ones, and cycling.
His spirit will live on inside all who knew him.
My deepest condolence to Ewan's family and friends,

If lucky, trips to the IT department could include a discussion with Ewan about our common interest in cycling. Ewan’s inner strength and calmness always left me feeling a bit better. To all of the Burke Family:
Please accept my sincere sympathies as you grieve the sudden loss of Ewan. I was reading all of the beautiful tributes posted of Ewan as a man and they can certainly be reflected back as to who he was as a teenager in Milton. That is a real testimony! The Lord will uplift you and give you strength and comfort as He has promised. It is wonderful to know that we can lean on Him and hold on to His promises.
Keeping you all in prayer,

Ewan Burke will live with me in my memories as long as I live. Spending 8 hours a day in same space for 18 years certainly creates another family at workplace, specially when he sat beside me for most of those years.
We had countless hours and minutes in which we had discussions about Life, Religion, Politics, and personal opinions...
I know him as one of the finest and caring.
May God be on his side.

Ewen was a true pleasure to work with. He was a reserved man at work , but was always caring and had a silent sense of humor about him. He was a true gentleman, highly respected for his knowledge and years of experience and always willing to help.
His retirement from the City was well deserved, and he was looking forward to his life after dedicating 30 years.
This is a tragic loss to his family and friends, and we hold them in our prayers.
Ewan may you rest in a better place where the hills and valleys are made of soft clouds and cycling is easier than the world you left.

A visit with the family was always a delight and something our family always eagerly looked forward to, (a credit to a lovely couple, as reflected by two wonderful children).
I'm glad to know we'll meet again. I'm glad the family will all be reunited.

Ewan has been a life long friend of Alan. Many memories of camp, praise and power events, they were best men in each other’s weddings, a great trip to Disney before we all had kids and wonderful visits each time we came back to Ontario. We are so happy we were able to be there for Lydia’s wedding - such a beautiful day! Our hearts are breaking as we mourn his loss but we rejoice that he is now with his Lord! Mary, Nathan and Lydia - our love and prayers are with you all!

I have know the Burkes since the kids were young, and I was just that wee bit older. I watched Ewan grow into a fine young man while attending Shoreacres Bible Chapel and Meadowvale Bible Chapel, and continued to hear about him through his siblings over the years ... it seemed whenever I moved, I crossed paths with a Burke at a new chapel :)
Ewan had the misfortune of working for me at the CNE, when I ran 5 booths in the old Food Building. It was hot, tiring work on your feet all day, but Ewan never complained and was a steady influence with a ready smile. Having worked with Lydia and Nathan in Food service at MiniYoWe (and Mary), I would say Ewan has passed on these quality traits to his children.
My heart aches for the family, and I pray each can draw near to our God of all comfort at this time.
