I remember the last meal Brother Wiersema and I shared together after an afternoon at the Regent Theater watching Songs of Pride Land. Stopped at the local Swiss Chalet where He and his wife use to frequent on Fridays and Monday evenings. He bought me dinner and we discussed his memories of j growing up In Alberta and his membership in Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. His favorite waitress was working that evening and she brought him his usual order.. He was so at home.
May he grow tall in God Garden.

I am your Mom's cousin and I will always treasure your Dad as one of my favorite people in the world. Honest, kind, generous, humble, happy & a man of God. Al was actually on my mind last night and we were so saddened to see his obituary in our morning paper. Our heart felt condolences go out to Dianna & Sandra and their families. We wish you peace & comfort in the days ahead. I have known your Dad since I was knee high and remember Christmas dinners at Aunt Katherine's & Uncle Vaughn's and Al & Cleve & Floyd & my brother Doug in a contest to see who could eat the most mashed potatoes & turkey gravy. What a hoot that was. There was also a story about your Dad falling in a septic tank late at night in the dark. That was the only time I remember him not smiling! Even though we are sad, we are also rejoicing that we know your Dad & Mom are happy together again. All our Love - Grant & Linda Fyfe.

Al and I were home teaching companions for many years. We became fast friends and always sought each other out a church for hearty handshake, a hug and a pat on the back. Being a pair of old guys we would regale each other with our past exploits but we grew closest when we shared our testimonies of the restoration of the church and how we came to be members. Both of us understood how fortunate we were to have the gospel of Jesus Christ in our lives. Al spoke well of everyone. I cannot remember a single instance of him speaking ill of anyone.
Well Al, it was fun while it lasted and I look forward to meeting you and Dorothy again. When we do we'll be whole, healthy and happy.
Until we meet again my brother.

Although we did not know each other long, I admired and respected Al. He was a wonderful example of love and perseverance. He loved his wife Dorthy so much as was evidenced by his great care of her during her illness. It was truly a pleasure knowing Al. My sincere condolences to his family as this time of parting. God bless and keep you until you are reunited.

Brother Al was an amazing man and we are so very grateful we were able to know him when he came to Bowmanville ward (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints). Through the home teaching/ministering program, we became close with Al - he felt like our adopted Grandfather and Great-Grandfather. We loved our visits with him and seeing him on Sunday for hugs and handshakes. He was such an example to us and we loved hearing his stories about his life and travels as well as his testimony of his faith. He will be greatly missed by all of us, but we know he is with his beloved Dorthy and daughter Pat and at peace. We look forward to seeing him again one day. Rest in peace, dear Al. Our deepest condolences to his family - may you find comfort in the many memories you shared with this wonderful man over his long life. Much love - the Hallett family (Newcastle)

We are grateful that we were able to know him. Always so kind and always with a smile. We knew him as a dedicated husband, father and grandfather as one of our children attended the same school as a grandchild and we could see how proud he was by there interaction. Our condolences to your family at this time of loss.
