Obituary of Helen Anne Drew
HELEN ANNE DREW
(NEE BABCOCK)
Passed away peacefully at home on April 4, 2020
Beloved wife of Gordon Drew for over 66 years. Loving mother of Susan (Gordon) Snelling, Paul (Glenda) Drew and Deborah (Thomas) Bull. Adored grandma of William, Michele (Victor), Lindsay (Scott), Michael (Kelly), Brian (Chelsey), Jason (James), Amanda (Matthew), Constance (Randy) and great-grandma to Jessie, Derian, Erin, Ashley, Mason, Jackson and Eliana. Dear sister to Florence Jollow.
Helen was an extraordinary person who lived an ordinary life. Her highest priority was her family and her strongest belief was in the importance of love. These were the things that informed a life which was lived thoughtfully.
Helen appreciated beauty in many forms. She loved to garden and gained much from being outside amidst nature. She often had music on in the house and sang there and in the church choir. She enjoyed playing the piano even in later years. Books were important to her and she volunteered at the Bridgenorth Public Library for 30 years, earning the Province of Ontario Volunteer Service Award. She developed a considerable library for Bridgenorth United Church. She was a lifelong knitter creating clothing and afghans for family and prayer shawls for those in need. Helen was an avid explorer of spiritual thought and contemplative practices. As a result she was a welcomed teacher, storyteller and group leader in the church and beyond.
Above all else her favourite thing was to spend time with her children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren. Time spent with Grandma was always fun!
She will be dearly missed but for her she is now able to sing: “Blue skies, nothing but blue skies do I see. Blue days all of them gone, nothing but blue skies from now on.”
Due to current limitations, there will be no visitation or funeral service held at this time. Memorial Donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society.
