Ms Samochin was a great teacher, not only of science but of the traditions we students needed to hear about in school but were never officially taught. I looked her up on a whim and am saddened to hear of her passing. She stands out in my memory as one of the most profound influences on my education, and the world would be diminished if it werent for the energy she spent making it better while still with us.
We could all learn from her example, and so many have already.
