My deepest sympathies to Sylvia's family. I have been thinking about some of the memories from school at Clarke and work at Voyageur. I have a note from Sylvia written in the days before she headed to Guelph. She was such a joy to work along side. I was hoping to post the note here, but I an unable to find it at the moment. I remember Sylvia training and running on 3rd line in Newcastle, layered in clothing on really hot days. She was such an inspiration and so kind. "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted" Matthew 5:4. God bless you. BJ Trimble Macdonald

So sorry to hear about our loss of Sylvia. I met her through the running community and supported the reading and running program in Scarborough as a volunteer coach. Sylvia was a significant role model in my life and that of many others. She was one of the most passionately committed people I have had the pleasure of meeting and leaning from. A great loss for many. My deepest sympathies to her family.

Our love and condolences goes out to your family in appreciation and gratitude for sharing Silvia with us. Silvia gave my children the heart of Christ by being a true embodiment of His love. She touched my life in ways that noone else has. Even as I miss her, I am comforted by the image of her dancing with our Father now. Rest in Power Silvia.

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Silvia. My heart goes out to all of you.
I met Silvia through our running group, Connor's Runners. She spoke at a low time in my life, but oh my gosh did she bring me back to life. Silvia is the most incredible person, speaker, inspiring person I have yet to meet.
Because of her I did fundraising for Start2Finish while training and racing one of my Ironman races. As I was racing I thought of all the children Silvia has helped over the years and that the race was for them, it got me 1st place in my age. I learned that running for others is what really matters the most so I thank Silvia for that.
I hope to follow somewhat in her footsteps one day when time permits and volunteer for Start2Finish, one of Silvia's legacies that she is leaving behind.
Thank you Silvia for the strength and wisdom you have brought to so many, you were such a selfless person, Rest in Peace my dear friend.
Warm Regards
Carol Elliot

My sincere condolences to Silvia's family.
Silvia was one of my personal heroes. It wasn't just that Silvia was such an amazing athlete and inspiration to generations of women to come. It was how Silvia lived her faith, including her honest and candid accounts of those times when she searched for her purpose. I also appreciated her recognition of the role that sport can have in changing a kid's life. Silvia was kind and generous. Her work with kids has shaped my own passions.
Rest in peace, Silvia, and rise in glory. Until we meet again on the other side.

Having a few quiet private moments with Silvia.
We met Silvia in 1981 when she joined the Christian campus group I was a chaplain for..
She came to our home and bonded quickly with us and our baby boy Vince. Soon after our son and his soon to arrive brothers Adrian and Michael adopted her as Aunt Silvia. She attended many of their running events and didn’t miss any of their weddings.
We have been marked for good for the rest of our lives.

Silvia - no words can describe of how I feel about you. You've seen my family and I grew up in the Lord and each other. Yet I know you can rest now....
Thank you for trusting me in sharing many of the obstacles and challenges you've encountered and yet overcame.
You truly have fought the good fight.., you have finished the race...., you have kept the faith...
You're a true inspiration of walking by faith and not by sight...
I will always treasure the memories and every lesson you've poured out to us all....
Thank you for being you....
