Mike, we learnt a great deal from you in the short time we got to know you. We feel lucky to have some amazing memories to cherish of a fine gentleman with an incredible spirit - a trailblazer through the wilderness of our ordinary lives! Giving you big hugs, especially from Ellie. You'll be missed dearly. Thinking of you, Auntie Lorna and all yours and Mike's family and friends. Love for ever, Sam, Katie, Toby and of course Ellie X X x x (PS - we'll keep an eye on Rangers for you)

When Mike was introduced to our family we acquired a gem. Many holidays ( not enough!!) and many laughs along the way. Mike has left a trail of love and laughter and memories we can smile about.
When that final whistle blew, we can say that he was 'man of the match' - we will miss you.

I only met Mike a few times, when he was in the UK with Lorna. But it didn't take more than a few moments in Mike's company to feel as if I had known him for years. He had a genuine warmth and keenness to know about me and my interests (with a bias towards football that my two sons adored) that I have rarely experienced in anyone before; it was at once disarming and utterly charming. A friendlier, funnier and more kind-hearted chap you could never meet. If he can leave a hole in the lives of a family in South West England that he only met a handful of times, I cannot imagine how his immediate family must be feeling his absence. Best wishes to you all. Joe Bryant (son of Sue Bryant, Lorna's sister). xxx

You could take the man out of Scotland but can’t take Scotland out of the man. His razor sharp Scottish wit had us in stitches! From his contempt of pretentious coffee shops, to his love of wings and a ‘wee swaaley’ at Frosty’s. He always had a way of making you smile. We’ll always think of him and smile whenever we pass by disabled parking bays.
You shall be missed terribly by so many. It was an honour to get to know you Mike and we’ll get back to Canada soon.

Such a wonderful, warm friend. Mike, you will be missed by myself and Victoria. You are a light on a dark day and someone we genuinely had time for. A diamond in the rough. Miss you and safe journey.
Ben & Victoria.

Both Abbie and I are devastated to hear the sad news about Mike. He was a character larger than life itself, and many fantastic memories made in the short time we got to know him. We will be raising a tot of whiskey to his memory on Friday. Love and thoughts to everyone. Barney & Abbie xxx

Mike was my second father he took me into his family as an 11yr old 44yrs ago and a stronger and deeper bond of just uncle and nephew was formed.
During his visits home over the years we spent many unhappy times watching Greenock Morton "they always lost"
His true love with Glasgow Rangers and it didnt matter how many times Lynda would say Hail Hail he always had the same answer which i cannot share -:) but it had 2 words..
Mike became a great uncle to my 2 childern Lynne and Gary who also came to love him dearly over the years.
You are with the stars and sitting with others who loved you, for those you leave behind the pain will ease and laughter will last.
I will always think on our chats and football banter uncle Mike. Hail Hail
Love John, Lynda, Lynne & Gary
