My deepest condolences to Tammy's family. I am so sad to hear about Tammy's passing.
Tammy was my supervisor during my internship with the Durham Elder Abuse Network. Working with Tammy was delightful. She was one of the most knowledgeable and compassionate professionals in her field. Her advocacy for seniors will not be forgotten.
Tammy's laugh and smile lit up any room - she had a way of making everything fun. I was lucky to have had the opportunity to know, and work with her.
She will be greatly missed by so many.

I’m very sad to learn about my cousin Tammy’s passing. As a young girl, I thought Tammy, Dan, and Tanya were the coolest cousins on the planet, and I realize now that Tammy was one of my strongest role models. She spent a lot of time teaching my sister and me about the importance of education, staying safe in the world, and being charitable and kind. I remember hanging out in her room and thinking the world of her. I deeply regret that we lost touch and that I never took the opportunity to tell her what she meant to me. My love and heartfelt sympathy to her family and friends.

Tammy was an amazing lady and will be dearly missed. Tammy had an unmeasurable impact on the students in my Activation Coordination in Gerontology Program at DC. Her passion and advocacy for older adults was inspiring and made us all want to do better in our communities.

I am just so sad to hear of Tammy’s passing.
Tammy and I were good friends in our 20’s, as we both started working for the Region of Durham on the same day. As single young women we traveled together several times abroad. But after I lived abroad for a few years, we lost track of each other.
I’m so sad we never hooked up again, as we had many great memories! She had an adventurous spirit and an infectious laugh. I’m glad I got to be a part of her life. But I’m so sorry it had to end so soon.
My sincere condolences to her family and friends

Dear family members of Tammy,
Please know that my heart and most sincere prayers go out for you with the passing of your wife, mother, daughter, sister, beloved. I have had the great privilege of working with Tammy when her expertise was needed on the behalf of our patients. She was a very knowledgeable, dedicated professional, one who always seemed to be able to masterfully weave the oft-conflicting goals of pointing out the "truth"/facts of clients' situations, and still truly honoring clients' right to self-determination. When joining her in meetings with patients/clients, I enjoyed taking a step back to watch her skill in action: she could "join" with the client system in a very calm, respectful way, and was able to communicate that she "understood" them without judgment. I found that I learned a great deal from simply observing and then debriefing with her after. I believe I am a better clinician, better able to identify and support at-risk seniors, for having consulted with her these handful of times, and I am but one individual who has had the pleasure of being impacted by her (and by extension, my patients); her influence is indeed far-reaching and will therefore continue to help numerous individuals in-need. Taken far too soon, I find her passing very shocking and I am so very sorry for your great loss. My prayer is that God will make this time bearable, and that with time, the pain will lessen so that she will continue to touch your lives with beautiful memories in all that you do.
Very sincerely, Jennifer

On behalf of all of the health professionals working in specialized geriatric service in the Central East Region, I wish to express our gratitude for Tammy's work with seniors, particularly those who are often most vulnerable. Tammy was a much valued colleague and presented to our regional geriatrics program on several occasions. She was a passionate but practical educator, and conveyed a straightforward message to great impact. More recently, I had the pleasure of joining Tammy and her colleague from the Durham Regional Police, on a ride-out as she visited seniors in the community. I saw first hand how her direct, yet empathetic style helped her to make meaningful connections with so many people living in difficult circumstances.
It has been an absolute pleasure to know Tammy, to witness her work, to learn from her, and to support her efforts to make a difference for seniors in our community, and to benefit from her support of our work. Her passing is a great loss, but her lessons are enduring and her colleagues will continue to carry the knowledge she shared.
With gratitude
Kelly Kay, Executive Director, Seniors Care Network

Paul, Ben and Jacob,
I was shocked and saddened to hear about Tammy. Ben and Jacob, I have had the pleasure and privilege of working with your mom and your dad. Such a blessing for me! Your Mom brought so much joy and laughter to the workplace. Soon after I arrived at the Region, our Hillsdale team participated in a personality exercise called True Colours. It was then that I realized Tammy was very special and one-of-a-kind. As I looked around the room Tammy stood out – alone – in front of the orange banner. Tammy fit the orange personality type to a ‘T’ - one who promotes action, motivates, brings excitement, seizes the moment and creates a playful environment. Your Mom did all that and more! Your Mom woke me up to the issues of Elder Abuse and I saw her seize all kinds of opportunities to raise awareness in our Region and Nation. Her work ethic and energy were incredible. With her influence I added sticky-hands (small toy) to a hand hygiene campaign in 2004 not realizing she had an ulterior motive. Tammy stocked up on the sticky-hands and playfully terrorized colleagues working diligently. In a whirlwind she appeared at my office armed with a sticky-hand or two and she launched them two or three times and sent papers flying into the air. Tammy and her laughter could be heard fading as she moved to the next office. A calm would fall along with the papers and leave a smile on my face and what is now a lasting memory. On a lunch break around Christmas she dared me to eat a whole chocolate advent calendar, something I would not normally do – results were hilarious. My kids remember Tammy licking my car window to demonstrate cross contamination, she had a way of getting the message across. I could go on; I have what seems a million memories that I will cherish always. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I was deeply saddened when I learned of your loss. Please know that my heart is with you and your family now, and in the days to come.
Tammy was a devoted and respected woman, who was not just part of a family, but also a friend to many in the community. She was a daughter, sister, wife and mother as well as a great advocate for the elderly. I believe if you think about someone you’ve loved and lost, you are already with them. The rest is just details. Tammy is now resting peacefully in the eternal and while she may no longer physically be with us, her spirit will continue to fill the hearts of so many.
My sympathies are with you for your pain of loss. I hope that soon you will be able to have this period of mourning in death be replaced with rejoicing in her life. May the peace that comes from the memories of love shared comfort you now and in the days ahead. She will be missed

I worked with Tammy when she was a partner to Sgt. John Keating in the Elder Abuse unit at DRPS. We had many fun times in the basement at 18 Division where we worked. There were hours and hours of banter back and forth between Tammy and Sgt. John that lightened our days and educated us in all things Elder. I just saw her only a few months ago when she came to visit our team at our new Oshawa location. She saw that I had injured myself and made me promise her that I would go right out and get a spike attachment for my cane so that I would not fall in the snow and ice. That was Tammy. She was always watching out for others. She had such a great big heart with room in it enough for all. My life has been truly enriched for knowing her. I know she will be missed by many.

My sincere condolences go out to Tammys family and loved ones. As a retired police officer from Peel Regional Police I was the Elder Abuse coordinator until 2018. I first met Tammy at the Ontario Police College in 2013. Since that day Tammy's influence changed the face of Elder Abuse in the Region of Peel. She was instrumental in the LEAPS committee and was a guest speaker at every single Elder Abuse conference I attended. Her and I sat on several committees together and I was always in awe of her energy and sense of humor. Omg, Tammy made so many people laugh. I always wondered how she could be so passionate and yet so funny at the same time. She mentored me, guided me and offered daily assistance whenever needed. I am truly devastated by her passing, but I am also heartbroken for the Elder Abuse community who has lost the greatest advocate there ever was. This entire province will feel the devastating affects of Tammy's passing. Her legacy will surely live on for decades. A true testament of the amazing person she was. She did it all and infinately more.
