Dear family,
hereby we would heartily condole with the death of Uncle Egbert.
We are happy that he has reached the age of almost 93 years.
The times we have seen him here in Holten he was always a very pleasant man.
We understand that it is a great loss to husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather to have to miss.
We wish you God's blessing to be able to process this.

Dear Stam family,
Charlene and I send our condolences as you mourn the loss of your beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Bert Sr. lived a full life of energy and dedication to Rita, his family, and his community. While I was principal at Knox Christian School and member of Rehoboth CRC, I fondly enjoyed my interactions with him as he playfully, and at times, not so playfully, challenged me in my personal and professional life. His love and care for others was unmistakable, his twinkle designed to brighten days, and his unwavering love for the Lord were all integral pieces to a man who lived life richly. May the Lord grant you the peace that passes all understanding as you picture him dancing with the angels and telling his latest joke to any who will listen. The Lord be with you all.

Dear Tante Dika, kinderen en kleinkinderen,
We are very sorry to hear the news of the passing away of Oom Egbert.
Joanne told us that this last year was hard for him. His body was tired but his mind was strong. A man to be proud of. I remember him as a sweet big man, always joking with my dad. He will be missed.

He was always kind and engaging in conversation when our paths would cross. A positive disposition, is what I remember. He lived a long full life alongside you. You will miss him dearly. Dear tante Dika and other dear family in Canada,
Oom Egbert. He is passed away in a high age. My condoleances. Wat heeft hij veel meegemaakt. Bij oma en opa aan de wand hingen de 8 trouwfoto's van hun kinderen. Prachtige foto's waar we als kind graag naar keken. Oom Egbert was als oudste een example for his brothers en sisters (en vast voor nog veel meer mensen in Holten). Mijn vader keek altijd een beetje tegen hem op. Egbert had ooit de stap durven nemen naar Canada te gaan om een nieuwe toekomst op te bouwen. Hij was naar Indië geweest en had daar veel meegemaakt waar ze ongetwijfeld over gesproken hebben samen. Egbert was een praatjesmaker, een grapjas, iemand die goed verhalen kon vertellen, die niet bang was zijn mening te geven. Het is verdrietig dat hij er niet meer is. Dat de jaren voorbij vliegen, dat generaties uitgewist worden. Hij was een markante man, die vast bleef houden aan het geloof waarmee hij werd grootgebracht. You all must be very proud. We were and still are happy John en I could meet him and tante Dika a few years ago. Dat we mochten zien waar onze familie neergestreken is en hun leven vorm gaven. Tante Dika en neven en nichten en andere familie: veel sterkte bij het afscheid.
